Can't do something without making sure every level of management knows.
I hate this person.
There is accountability concerns, so I understand sending emails to essentially have a time stamp on any requests or responses.
However, some people copy basically the entire list of executives and managers like it's a necessity every single time.

This!!!!
I will spend 30 minutes on the phone discussing something that takes 5 minutes, tops, to email.
And I deal with State employees for a living. I don't really want to talk to most of them anyways.
I just now called a customer back who emailed me and asked me to call him. He's at fricking lunch. Now I'm not going to call him until Monday. But he won't get the hint. Next time he'll do the same thing. And this guy likes to talk in circles. He's going to repeat himself 18 times on the phone and it will ruin my day.

I never copy anyone unless it's absolutely necessary. I hate being copied in a long arse string of group emails.
I just email the person then copy and paste it in the claim notes.

I have several voicemails right now, which will not get listened to or returned until Monday.
And I hate it when I put off calling someone for a while, then when I call they aren't available. They always call back at the worst times.

The worst is the one person who always replys all on company wide emails that don't require responses
That will get you written up where I'm at

Funny. We just had a big meeting about email
One of the key points was to email as little as possible. Call or face-to-face in order to cut down on discoverability

Actually I'll rate email as one of the poorer ways to communicate. Unless perhaps you are sending a drawing, proof, document, etc. Then it is great for transmitting the info.
People say things they sometimes don't mean via email. Something that is stated comes off much stronger in written words. People can easily misconstrue or imply intent or connotation when there is none. This is especially true when something negative or confrontational needs to be discussed. It's very difficult to be delicate via the written word. The "I'm copying all of the management staff" get's overused and involves and keeps people in the loop that don't need to be and can sometimes add even more micromanagement to the task.
Those that hate using the phone may want to keep those things in mind.
It's a lot like people who love to text. The texter who loves to text always assumes the party on the other end is ready, waiting, and willing to discuss that topic over text message, and in their mind, immediately.
People like email because they falsely believe it gets work "off their plate".
Boss: Joe, did you get that change order signed?
Joe: Yeah, I sent the guy an email 3 times.
Boss: Is the change order signed?
Joe: No, he hasn't responded yet.
Boss: If he never responds to the email will the change order ever get signed?
Joe: Oh, I guess I should give him a call.
Boss: Yes, you should.

I hate phone calls. Nothing gets resolved. They're like meetings. When someone emails me and asks me to call them it makes me rage. Just ask your fricking question in the email and you'll get a much faster response from me. If my customers had their way I'd spend all day on the phone and not get any work done.
i tell clients that the quickest way to contact me is email, because i might respond to an email at 9 pm, but i won't call you at that time. so they call the office, leave a message that they sent an email. when i check the email, it says "call me."
so, i email them at 9 pm and ask what's up. enough of those loops and they'll put the 30 second question into an email and i can give them a 30 second response.

Like I said earlier...I deal with State workers. They don't want to work during the day much less at 9pm.
I email for accountability purposes. It's easier to get me to respond to an email than it is to get me to return a phone call.
And no more emails for me until Monday. I'm about to leave work now.

160? I get about that many every day, and most are from the same 3 people.

Nothing worse than the guy who sends emails out at 10pm every night copying upper management to make it seem like he is more dedicated to his job.
I think it has the opposite effect.

Discoverability is the ability of something, especially a piece of content or information, to be found.

I realize that. What are yall trying to hide.

How was that judgemental? Don't play the victim when no one was attacking you.
