Just do the opposite of what this guy says and you will be doing the correct thing.

I got married on a Monday. But it was in Vegas.

Service industry jobs often staff only 2-3 people Sunday-Tuesday. So if your friends work in bars, restaurants, etc. it's the easiest way to get them all there. Throw the handful of new employees on those days.
(This post has nothing to do with weddings. Just was throwing that out there.)

I got married on a Friday night. I don't really cosider that a weekday though. It was not cheaper at our venue, but it definitely was easier to get everything booked. It was either that Friday, or the next Saturday. And the next Saturday was someone else we knew's wedding and Hitler's birthday
. We went with the Friday.

They don't really want you to come...and/or they can't afford a full week of honeymoon so they're going for the 4 day/3 nighter.

Seems to me that someone would only have a weekday wedding if they don't want a big one with lots of people there. If they do expect a big turnout they'll be disappointed.

Then a weekday wedding makes sense. Most of their coworkers are usually working other weddings/events on the weekend.
