ok, i'm out. Evidently this is a white people circle jerk.
What's with the circle jerk bs. It's a discussion on racism and apparently not taking the direction that you wish. Cum and go as you wish

you could be the one green person in the whole world, locked in a prison with nor rights or power at all, and still be a racist

diversityinc.com sounds like a legit website with zero chance at any sort of slant
It has a slant towards diversity, e.g. racial equality. I would not call that a "slant" in the bad sense.

Diversity is not equality and equality will never happen nor should it.

Racism is directed from majority to those not in the majority and has its roots in economics. In China, for example, racism would be directed from Han Chinese to any of the other 55 ethnicities. Instead of “white” privilege, China has “Han privilege”

The NEA and other scholars have defined racism as including a power element, and have done so for a long time.
quote:
“Power + Prejudice = Racism.”
--from DEVELOPING NEW PERSPECTIVES ON RACE, by Pat A. Bidol
“In the United States at present, only whites can be racists, since whites dominate and control the institutions that create and enforce American cultural norms and values . . . blacks and other Third World peoples do not have access to the power to enforce any prejudices they may have, so they cannot, by definition, be racists.”

This is the thread where we call out leftists who try to re-define a concept to render all white people the irredeemable perpetrators of thought crimes, which the state must intervene to correct
Bless you. I refuse to pigeon-hole people according to all these neat little Marxist categories. I view human beings as INDIVIDUAL human beings. You know, like Dr. King suggested. The Racial Grievance Industry would drag us back to those dark (not racist) days of race-consciousness. Elites and The State picking winners and losers and inequality under the law. No thanks.

I got into a discussion with a gentleman (AA) this morning about discrimination/racism in the South, and he dropped this reasoning on me:
quote:
"through privilege, we are the only ones who hold power to deprive those we subjugate".
I'm an older guy. I am not troubled with burned out brain cells from alcohol. I am of American Indian decent with the possibility of some slave blood. The privilege I possess exists only because I participated in the the American way rising from literally dirt poor.
All that being said, I'm calling complete bullshite on "Power + Prejudice + Action = Racism". This formula is something some of his naacp buddies dreamed up to justify the lazy assed peoples within our society.
It takes nothing more than Prejudice to = Racism, which he most certainly possesses.
I'd like to add to this that I have know and even worked for people of African (slave) decent that has risen to positions of power high enough to "subjugate" (by today's standards) and hold the power to "deprive" people.

Redefining words to fit an argument means their position is wrong and indefensible imo.
Posted on 1/27/16 at 11:33 am to Lsupimp
I don't agree with this completely, but it is food for thought.
quote:
“All white individuals in our society are racists. Even is a white is totally free from all conscious racial prejudices, he remains a racist, for he receives benefits distributed by a white racist society through its institutions. Our institutional and cultural processes are so arranged as to automatically benefit
whites, just because they are white. “It is essential for whites for whites to recognized that they receive most of these racist benefits automatically, unconsciously, unintentionally.”

No one is changing the definition of the word. Instead, it is giving the word its proper definition, rather than one that has traditionally been written to benefit apologists for racism.

The key word on all this is action. Those people of color in power have never created any laws or pursued any ACTION to deprive any non person of color. Is there any reading comprehension on this site at all. Sure they can be bigoted all they want, but until those prejudices and bigotry cause the person in power to take ACTION to deprive those under them, then it is not racism
So speak of reading comprehension but missed the part where the guy said blacks can't be racist.
