Raisins or Virgins?

Recently heard of this possible mistranslation in the Quran. A growing number of Quran scholars and Islamic theologians are contesting the interpretation that Muslim martyrs will be rewarded with 72 virgins when reaching paradise. Have read a couple of articles about it now and can’t help but laugh at what I hope is the case. How pissed would you be?
The Koran says martyrs going to heaven will get ‘hur,’ and the word was taken by early commentators to mean ‘virgins,’ hence those 72 consorts. But in Aramaic, hur meant ‘white’ and was commonly used to mean ‘white grapes’,”
Christoph Luxenberg (pseudonym), a scholar who pioneered such research, said in an e-mail interview with Kristof that grapes made more sense in context because the Quran compares them to crystal and pearls and that paradise are described as abounding with fruit especially white grapes.

They’re going to hell, regardless. They’re not getting a reward.
I believe that people who use religion as an excuse to do terrible things will be punished greatly for it in the afterlife. They should know better than to do those things if they were truly listening to their consciences.
I don’t care what the Quran says about it or how these guys are interpreting it.
Same thing goes for Christian zealots who do terrible things.

I personally find it perhaps the most hilarious example of confirmation bias and cognitive dissonance ever.

Even if it’s raisins, they’re still covered:
