Making snow forts in the front yard and having snowball fights with the neighbor hood kids, who all went to the same school.

The simple life in the 50-60s, hardly anything to do but never bored.....

My paw paw and I going get firewood. It was hard work. Especially for someone under 12. But there was no telling him you couldn't lift a block onto the trailer.
I'm a much stronger person (physically and mentally) because of a desire to not disappoint him.

Mud tackle football. After any heavy rain, the game was on.
Would be 20+ kids in on it.
Football in the street, light pole to light pole.
Oh so much fun in the 1960's and early 1970's.

Summer days when it was so hot we'd fry a worm on the sidewalk.
Torrential August downpours when we'd take leaves shaped like boats and float them in the gutters now like rapids til they were sucked down the street drain.
Climbing every neighbor's tree and scaling every wall.

During summer vacation my dad and I would usually go bass fishing on Friday evenings when he got home from work. I'd spend the day getting the batteries charged and the boat loaded up. When he got home, he'd back the truck up, I'd hook up the trailer and we'd roll out. I miss the shite out of those days.

Roller skating in the street.
The road was newly paved and it was smooth. Don’t think it’s been paved since.

Playing baseball and football everyday with the neighborhood
Laying in my top bunk at night with my little transistor radio listening to John Furgeson call LSU games
Running through fields at dusk chasing fireflies
The last day of school
Going fishing in my grandmas ponds
