Close to my list shipmate (I'm leaving out Fallujah)
1. Florida
2. California
3. North Carolina
4. Virginia
5. Georgia
6. Louisiana
This is based on my experiences at these locations. For the record I lived in Tampa, FL and Monterey, CA so that's why those states rank high on my list.

1. Georgia. Born and raised. Left, moved back. It has everything you need and close enough to the other stuff.
2. Washington. Loved this place up until about 2002. Was nearly perfect mix of outdoors, beach, mountains, city, etc
3. Alabama. Lived here a few different times. Meh.
4. Florida (never had residence there, but I do spend approximately a month per year there). I'd move to Florida if I could afford to live where I want, vs. live where I could afford.
5. Nevada (same as above, I spend time there for work, sometimes as much as 5 weeks per year, but it sucks)
