He's getting better by the day, zero pain, and bearing more weight each day. I don't think he ruptured the tendon, more a sprain probably. Friday he was a helpless tripod though. You could've tipped him over very easily! ha.

Great dogs! My mom's Corgi lived 15 years. Crazy smart and interactive. We lived out in the country and that dog could chase tennis balls for days.
Unfortunately on Thanksgiving they put him down because of his health.

They are bad arse little working dogs and are super intelligent. And frick adopting.... why does everyone have to adopt? B/c someone couldn't control their mut, so now it's my problem to help fix?
Get a pembroke or a cordigan and you'll be happy as long as you can handle the hair.
I had one and that dog was the best dog I've ever owned.
The Houston area has a couple real good breeders. That's about as much as I can tell you. The lady I got mine from was a personal friend of my mom. I apologize, but I'm not giving out her cell or her name.
They generally only have 2 pups at a time and they are pricey. Hers go for about 2k a pup.

Thanks, I e-mailed a breeder in that area yesterday but haven't heard back. I also have been contacting another breeder here in Texas but she is being very non-responsive and I am trying to reserve a puppy.

What are the initials of the breeder?

BS excuse
some rescues cover vet bills if serious issues come up plus they will take the dog back if you can't deal, a breeder won't do that.
Just because a dog has a pedigree doesn't mean it won't have medical issues.

Yeh that's not her. Don't think she has a site.

And vice versa for adopted dogs. Also if the situation arose that there was a serious health problem, I would rather have the resource of the dedicated breeder than a rescue shelter. I don't have to justify using a breeder. It is my preference and the point of this thread is to get recommendations on breeders, not resources for adopting or rescuing.

For a really good dog, yes.

People are looking for specific traits in a dog so they look for a certain breed, what is wrong with that?

family has had a few corgis, 2 still alive and kicking
still can't get over seeing this when you get home

You are correct, but buy a dog from a good reputable breeder and it will come with guarantees.
Shoot me an email at hebertfest@yahoo.com. I'll give you her name and you can contact her through Facebook. She is a professional handler and corgis are one of the dogs she breeds. Very picky about who the dogs go to, will interview you and unless you want to get into showing which will be required if you buy a show quality.... just get a pet quality. Which with her are not always easy to get, due to most of hers being show. She may know someone though.
Quickest way to a good corgi is finding one from a breeder that needs to be placed.

This holier than thou mindset of those who adopt from the pound is dumb and shallow.
Wrong. By purchasing from a breeder, you are lining their pockets and helping their business. Yes you save that dogs life, but you also contribute to the growth and continuance of the breeders business.
If nobody purchased from a breeder, their "puppy mill" cycle ends

You are equating all breeders with puppy mills, which seems inaccurate to do. Don't let the actions of a few bad eggs speak for the good ones out there.

frick you, you prentitous bastard.
My parents were breeders (bullmastiffs) for 20+ years and let me tell you something about it... isn't no pocket lining when you do it the right way. When you buy from a responsible breeder and do research they aren't doing it for the money. They are trying to better the breed and bloodline. Breed to phase out the bad parts that show up in dogs. Same shite they do with horses and cows... bet your sorry arse you aren't telling that the guy charging 400-500k to get semen from a breeders cup champ huh... same shite, with the exception of that guy is actually lining his pockets while trying to better his bloodline.
Get off your high horse dude and bring that shite elsewhere.

Glad not everyone in here is ignunt. I live in Dallas - I don't need to get a lab like every other original person in the south. Getting my wife a dog she wants. Corgis are good dogs, looking for a breeder.
Yeah, this isn't the best place to come if you're looking for a breeder, for some reason you get grilled alive for not adopting.
I don't have any info on Corgis, but I wish you luck on the process. I bought a goldendoodle for my GF and I for Christmas from a breeder. Do your research. It's worth it if you find the right one.
Good luck

The adoption police have really brought the cavalry hard today on their high horses!
If only they'd focus that 'outrage' towards the people that neglect, abandon, & discard, their pets in the first place .....
