If that episode "absolutely horrified" Tori Mae she oughta stay inside and stick to the Hallmark channel.
To be fair, from her description, the vehicle died mid-drive. In my experience with Chrysler products, that usually means the engine dies, and you have a split second to get off of the road before the vehicle applies the parking brake and dumps the transmission into Park. I've had that happen with my Ram before. And yes, it will absolutely scare the shite out of you.

At one point I believe BMW was trying to charge a subscription if you wanted to use the heated seats that were already installed in the car.

The one and only time I completely ran of out gas was in my Grand Cherokee. The gas station was fairly close to my house so I thought I could coast it in if it conked out but the damn thing pretty much immediately stopped itself right in the middle of the street and locked the brakes. I then couldn't get out and push it b/c of Jeep changing it to always go into park w/an open door due to Anton Yelchin leaving his in neutral and getting run over.
It took over half an hour for me to figure out where the brake release was hidden (inside the back of the arm rest and under a panel I had to pry up) that I ended up finding via YouTube b/c the manual is like reading old stereo instructions. Luckily the street I was on was low speed and traffic wasn't heavy but it was incredibly stressful to be stuck in the middle of the road w/no idea how to make the vehicle move.
