Just a reminder the majority of parents are not suited to home school their kids.

What does any of this have to do with kids going back to school or not?

The fact that politicians don't give two shits about the kids being left behind if school doesn't open, because they know people will still vote for them.

I'm an upper middle class white guy who lives in an EXCELLENT school district with schools that are completely and totally invested in the success of the students.

Neither of my kids are 'vulnerable' or have special needs.

One of my kids would be just fine with online learning.
The other would absolutely fall behind.

It actually make me question even more the true value of online degree programs.

Freshmen level college classes that are primarily lecture focused can probably be handled online.

But an entire degree program? I can't think of any where in-person learning wouldn't be beneficial at some point.

I agree. If just wearing a mask for a few months is all it takes to get kids back in school and crowds back to sporting events, let's do it. Sack up, wear the mask, and let's open our goddamn economy.

This.

And if teachers unions still block schools from reopening.....we can do online instruction after we fire every one of them. They are not producing results with online learning anyways. We may as well go to online charter schools.

The teacher unions definitely don't give a shite.

Education begins in the home. If people are too damn lazy or stupid to sit down and read and work with their children, then that’s their problem. School is a place to enhance and continue a child’s education not 100% of it.

One political side seems to be pushing schools to remain closed, why do they hate minority children? (PS - it’s the same side that owns our national media who’s making the case on national news every hour)

Of course it all starts at the home but guess what.. I’m not a teacher.. The amount of time it took my kids to complete distance learning was nowhere the intended time of in school education. With the additional time and resources, I’m sure it would be more immersive this fall if needed ( both my children’s schools are going full time on time at the moment)..

The big issue is that they need interaction and a hands on learning experience.. the labs, the one on one interaction, the social aspect, the discipline and schedule that is provided.. throw into the mix that my oldest is in High School and many of the concepts are buried deep into my brain that will need me to some how retrace and relearn and then somehow teach.. In some aspects and especially in many lower educated homes, the potential student is smarter than the parent in many disciplines.. online resources aren’t a substitute for the needed in person teacher application of the lessons..

Schools must reopen. That's what's best for the students, parents, and the economy.

But you don't understand. If we do what is best for students, parents (especially producers), and the ECONOMY, we may end up getting Trump elected again.

We must keep everyone locked down TOGETHER in order to defeat the orange enemy and his voters.

If it is good for America, it is bad for us.

Sincerely,

Democrat Voters

And you think most teachers are? I can only think of a handful of my teachers that I would ever want to teach my children.
