It was an intruder. There was evidence of someone getting locked in the defunct elevator closet in the basement (hiding, probably, as the house woke up unexpectedly early) and having to force their way out of it. There was green grass stuck under the grate covering the basement window well. Meaning it had been recently lifted up and put back into place. Another house in the neighborhood had an intruder not long after who was after a little girl. The argument against the Ramseys is strong, but I don’t feel like they were smart enough to move the grate and put it back such that grass would be stuck under it.
