Hot take: NOLA's isn't bad.

It’s pretty impressive for a relatively small city. Comparable to Denver’s, minus the mountain backdrop. It gets some hate in the niche interest “skyline” forums for being kind of dated and boxy. It’s true that there hasn’t been much meaningful change since the 80’s, but the dome and the bridges keep it interesting. I think the new Omni hotel that’ll be connected to the convention center was approved. That should top out around 350’ (roughly same height as the Hyatt) so while it won’t be super tall, it’ll be in a very visible location and add something new to look at.

ETA my favorite is probably LA. It’s interesting how tightly packed it is given how spread out the city is. Really nice to view or photograph from a distance on a clear day when you can get the mountains in the background.

Pretty sure foreigners get major tax breaks and work the system.

Eh, I don’t know enough to speak to tax breaks, etc. But it’s a lot like hotels and nail salons where when someone of a certain ethnicity arrives here, they naturally get funneled into some of these industries because their community already knows all about how to be successful in that one thing.

You havent really perused some of these forums have you…

I have and am happy to say it doesn’t hold a candle to what you see in basically any Facebook or Instagram comment section. It wasn’t until social media that I realized how dumb “average” is.

Don’t get me wrong, OT folks definitely have their moments.
I'm not sure I trust the assessment of someone who voluntarily moved to Missouri or Northern Arkansas
I can believe that the average poster here is maybe slightly above average IQ. Seeking out and actively participating in an online forum is certifiable nerd behavior, regardless of the topic. Just my take.

Probably not an avg of 130 though.
It’s a pretty one note economy, overall. Plus being so close to Texas it’s really easy to just give up and move to Houston if you want to do anything with your life other than work at a plant. All that said, it’s managed to remain a fairly decent place by LA standards. Unremarkable, but decent.
Because Mobile is so close and at least historically had more going on and was the main center of gravity for the region. I feel like it’s similar to how Baton Rouge can never seem to get out of New Orleans’ shadow because of how close it is.
I shared a room with my brother and we had old plaster walls that my mom wasn’t excited for us to hang much on other than some old map and duck pictures. So it wasn’t a super personalized room.

When you have to look up to Mississippi, it's pretty hard to be optimistic.

They don’t whine like LA people, that’s for sure.

I’m sure this is another shite on Louisiana thread, but this is good news.

Exactly! “More bad news—Louisiana’s tax competitiveness up significantly year over year.” Lol wtf

People and their negative attitudes towards everything imaginable are hurting the state more than taxes.

Much better than Saban’s

Someone’s going to buy Saban’s old place for the land and bulldoze it to subdivide I bet. Same thing they did with that white elephant on Moss Side Lane that belonged to the Lewis guy.
I mean, at the risk of downvotes, take a good look at the crop of available millennial women. I guess I gotta give them credit for thinking outside the box rather than settling for some of these chicks. Lmao

No, but we’ve done dry January the past 2-3 years and planning to do it again. But I know several people who have gone totally sober and it benefited them. Maybe one day for me but I’m not bored yet. Too many good cocktail bars and breweries out there in the world that I still want to experience.

“Resiliency.”

It’s okay to just say “resilience.” There’s no need to try and get all fancy.
Nope nope nope! We love it on a quiet night, but even before the NYE attack it was too risky to be out there for a big event night.

Just when you thought she couldn’t get any uglier.
No surprises here. The population has gotten a lot older, a lot fatter, and a lot less white since 1990. All those trends correlate with more health problems, ergo more demand for healthcare services.

Individualism is radical and dangerous, but conformism is just being a good citizen.

Some of your points are good, but this is way off. We have probably the most individualistic society on the planet. Ironically, people try so hard not to conform that they end up conforming because trying hard not to conform is the norm.
There is vastly superior Mexican food in Denver.

Dove bar soap and a wash rag are essentials.
