Actually, she turned into a pretty good shooter. She and a couple friends get together yearly for a law enforcement refresher training session on gun safety with supervised live fire.
Hopefully she never has to put that training to a threatening situation, but at least she knows how.

You had an opinion that someone wasn't a fictional movie character? What a bold statement

I absolutely suck with handguns, but I'm dead on at 100 yards with iron sights on almost any rifle. I've got the "yips" or something with handguns.

An carbine length AR is absolutely the best home defense weapon you can own. You can buy loads that are a safer bet for less penetration than your standard shotgun or pistol rounds. You always want the most amount of firepower (ammo) in a fight and 30 rounds of XM193 will give you the upper hand in nearly every fight. Revolvers have too low capacity in you have other options. 7 rounds of .357 mag in a GP100 (only ever have a double action revolver, never single action for defense). If you insist on a pistol, buy a Glock 19 or 17.

After that point you did the typical 'i know more than you on the internet' response of only responding in questions and memes.

My only contention was that moving on an intruder in a house is anything but silent, moving in your house regularly is anything but silent. With you training you should know this though.

You probably do know more than me IRL. Will probably make a great learning lesson one day.

Hope you don't end up getting yourself killed by a crackhead you could have scared off, really do.

Hope no one else gets killed with your advice on the other forum either.

LEO for 39 years (no dogs shot) I can shoot. You don't know what you'd do until put in the situation. That said, shotgun 18"barrel. And autos jam on limp wristed shooters, just saying

RA’ed

Move to Music Board

Not sure how effective it would be as a Home Defense tool.

But revolvers don't automatically make you a better shot or faster.

I didn't even imply such a thing so what point you think you are making with this statement is anyone's guess.

But it takes very little time and to get comfortable and proficient with a Semi-auto.

Yeah, and that applies to most common SA/DA revolvers. And in my experience it's easier to be accurate with a full size revolver than a full semi-auto pistol.

I'm sorry if I misunderstood.

If the guy shooting at you is a better aim and fires first, you kinda lose that bet.

With aim and aim/fire speed equal I would put my money on the Semi-auto

I disagree. I don't think its easier to be accurate in a live fire situation with a revolver.

In my experience, the semi-auto allows you to put more rounds faster into your target in a live fire situation with the same accuracy as a revolver.

I'm looking at the Ruger gp100 because it also shoots .357

Kicks like a mule... has a lot of muzzle rise... don't get this one unless you only need one shot as it is going to take an eternity for an accurate follow up shot.

Shotgun is your best bet man. I'd recommend a Mossberg 500 with the 20" barrel.
