Basically, this means his property has not been reassessed since it was forested land outside of city limits. Probably does not even have any structures on the assessment.

The home was built 23 years ago. There must be some other explanation.

I looked into this. The property is a peninsula that is split into three parcels. Two are empty lots that are appraised at $85k each. One of the lots is the one that has homestead exemption on it and it is appraised at $938,500.

Basically, they have the structure being on the wrong parcel.

That is almost twice what he was asking for it the last time it was up for sale about a year or two ago.

Years back I happened to come in contact with a contractor putting up bulkheads on the property. If I recall correctly, the contractor said he had to install 900 feet. Back then bulkheads were going for $100 per foot.

I also think if you look at other big names that are fighting St George people should also check what their businesses and properties are being taxed at.

That’s over $9000 just for bulkhead.

Is $90k not more than $9k? All OysterPoBoy said was that it is over 9k.

Fair enough, but the value of the lot(s) on the assessors website is listed at $8500 not $85k. I’ll take a lake lot in that area for either price listed.

I guess he wants his primary residence closer to Siegen at I-10?

What ever happened with this meeting and what city is he talking about with getting down to city level to condemn properties? I haven’t paid attention to annexations after Wuhan, but BR either didn’t want them or weren’t asked unless more recently (or just after he buys land at discount). I thought at least some of land is in StG (but pic I had and google map excludes parts of them possibly going by official addresses so not completely sure).

Wasn’t Broome involved in creating problem at hotels with homeless place there? Why would her office then help someone who talks of tearing down hotels after working at ‘city level’ to have them condemned?

quote:

The meeting is tentatively scheduled for late September, according to Broome’s assistant chief administrative officer, Veneeth Iyengar, who helped Lipsey get in touch with the owners of the Super 8, Motel 6, Econo Lodge and Trident Inn.

Lipsey, who initially said he wanted to contact the owners in order to offer to buy their properties and tear them down, now says he wants first to meet with them, discuss the problem and try to find a solution.

“If we can get them to clean up the area, get the trash out and get the people that are creating the problem out of there then I’m fine with the hotels,” he says. “If not, then we will make every effort at the city level to condemn them.”

I don't know why they do this, but the assessed amount is 10% of the supposed actual value. So an $8,500 assessment = $85,000 value.

$8500 appraisal = $85k valuation. That's just the way it is.
