this means the civil war and slavery never happened....right? People that try to whitewash history are scum.

There's lots of stuff we all know happened without erecting statues to honor. Surely there's a difference between honoring and acknowledging, no?

I'm not saying it's been handled well but the melts against it have been pretty extreme

It's my understanding, and it could be just social media posturing, that municipalities and other government entities are exempt from OSHA regulations.

I've read it on other sites, I do NOT know how accurate it is. And really, you think a Federal, executive branch bureaucracy is going to come after a Democrat mayor? C'mon.

No one is exempt from OSHA, but OSHA cannot fine the Federal Government but can write citations and shut shite down quickly (have seen this on the Air Force base). Only way a municipality or state employer would not get fined is if the state has their own branch of OSHA such as California.

Why would a plan be needed?

Because PROFESSIONALS use Lift Plans to identify and mitigate hazards, you dumbass.

You guys act like safety plans, lift plans, engineers and oversight actually matter to Mayor Landrieu. If people are hurt, injured or killed, they will run to the media and blame racists. And the media will parrot it, just like they've been doing on this for two years.

Once it's all fait accompli, or nearly so, NOW Fox8 and WWL are starting to report on the statues being kept in that city junkyard. It's all over. The most we will get out of the mayor, council, or courts is ....oh was that not the right thing to do? Whoops. We're sorry.

So you're saying that NOFD employees are, indeed, professionals? Have you not been watching this entire fiasco?

Mitch doesn't give a shite and OSHA isn't going to say anything so they don't get labeled a racist, but I find it funny that any other company operating is the limelight this is getting would be getting their arse handed to them in litigation from OSHA for several Serious and Willful violations. OSHA and MSHA have issued several citations to TV shows. MSHA shut down a couple of crews on the Goldrush show on Discovery which is why most of it has been moved to Canada.

Is there an OTGT tonight?

I'll see about making a sign that reads "MITCH IS A POO POO HEAD"

It seems like a publicity stunt with Mitch slapping his dick on the good folks of NOLA. It's almost like they want to see you guys melt in a big way/ call you racists, etc.

Drawing a big line and pretty big bet by the mayor. Could easily end up with egg on his face but sadly the city will still lose because of him.

I sure would like to see the statue stay and the good folks win here. Go get'm, screw the barricades, baws. Save the city from boycotts and disgrace caused by one race bating dude.

I'll be watching/hoping the facebook live feed.

You have to think someone in Mitch's family fought on the side of the Confederacy, right?

they are using a Sikorsky MH-60T Jayhawk to remove the statue

That is some showmanship. Get the ball rolling with lower risk and lower profile removals. Then finish it off with the Mona Lisa of monument removals. This has some CNN shite written all over it. No way they use a helicopter and it goes off without a hitch.

Are they going to take down the whole column and everything, or just the statue at the top?

If so, there might be a death before they even make it to the statue.

Maybe someone should call OSHA and report a life safety issue.

I mean...I only grew up just outside of New Orleans from the early 70's onward, then on to Lafayette in '88 and never heard a word.

Feel free to link something that I've missed. But at no point in time to I recall any large or even meaningful complaining about these statues...ever.

I just have a feeling that tonight is going to turn into a major cluster f@@@...

something is going to happen with the lift/crane and Mitch will end up looking like a bigger idiot than he does now and a bunch of SJWs will end up with egg on their faces...

OSHA doesn't apply to state/local governments.

I would think you would have to use a Chinook for something that weights as much as that statue does.
