I thought about that at lunch. I don't think these ppl have any experience taking down statues or anything elevated off the ground. Taking down lee might quite the spectacle.

I don't live in New Orleans. But as a Louisiana resident, let me say how exciting it is to know that we've got a city on the verge of becoming a world class destination both in terms of population, industry and innovation as well as culture. Look at Houston and Atlanta. We've figured out the problems and we're coming
Just a matter of time, what an exciting future ahead now that the cuffs are off.

They may not know what they are doing, but the guy running the crane is an expert rigger and it isn't like it is a complicated lift.

You are taking what I am saying to an extreme. Just saying that if people were as upset about it as they act on here there would have been more resistance by the community.
WRONG! I am vehemently against this, but I haven't uttered a word about it on social media, etc. Who wants to have their livelihoods taken away because they are labeled a racist, etc, pointed out and made infamous by the social media mob? I have a job and a family to support, my free speech is very limited due to the liberal mob mentality. I can guarantee I'm not the only person who feels like this.

He doesn't. The council voted on it. Mitch didn't even get a vote.

Travers Mackel WDSU Livestream on Lee Circle Removal
Travers just said a city official told him the NOPD is looking at shutting down all vehicle traffic and pedestrian traffic from Julia St. to Annunciation St to Erato St to Baronne St. starting at 5 PM.

Those people have more important things to worry about...family, work, bills, etc

Since Mitch strong-armed this through using city money and city employees, I couldn't do anything except stop supporting the city. Everyone in the city has been scared to oppose him. But...every little bit of money counts to a business. Mine will not be there anymore
Probably gonna get Parkway today, and that'll be it

I heard once these statues are down approximately 1.87 million people are moving to New Orleans to catch up to Houston.

So no traffic down Calliope?
Yep, glad I am off today. Good luck in traffic, frickers.

Was in town Tuesday and snapped a pic.
I haven't really care about the statues one way or the other but this really sucks.

I honestly dont think they will attempt to do it tonight. The parking signs posted say no parking from 11:59pm tonight to 11:59 tomorrow night.
Plus the light towers wont provide enough light that high up
I think the will have everything staged and in place and wait for daylight tomorrow morning and work on it all day tomorrow while they have enough light.
Pretty bold move being it's a Friday

This guy gets it. These statues have been hovering above New Orleans for generations. A monumental weight pressing down the good people of Nola. With that oppressive cap removed, the city will thrive. Mitch solved the puzzle.
