Jeez doesn't even look like they had a real plan before going up to rig it up... trying all kinds of crap up there.

How many hours have they been at this today? Since 9:00 AM?
Depends on when you consider them to have started.
They have just been setting up until now.

If I'm reading correctly, the confederate army never had any control over the city of New Orleans for any length of time during the civil war. The union army was able to break pass Ft Jackson and cut off the city from the rest of the confederacy .
So in a city the confederacy never controlled there exist statues of men to honor that lost cause.
"Hey we never controlled this city and we lost the war, let's go ahead an erect three statues to show them how petty and but hurt we are"
Random thought #2
Why aren't there any statues or monuments , plaques etc to honor the confederacy in the wealthiest part of the city, (i.e. The garden district) ? There might be, but I couldn't think of any.

The prolonging for political theater pisses me off more than the actual removal. No reason to drag this out just to gloat at 3pm.
