Yep, living in a city populated by a majority of blacks, living under two previous black mayors, and they couldn't succeed because of these statues.

Funnily enough- the black people I know don't give a shite. It's the white people who want to look like heroes who are doing the bitching.

Why aren't there any statues or monuments , plaques etc to honor the confederacy in the wealthiest part of the city, (i.e. The garden district) ? There might be, but I couldn't think of any.

You ever seen the amount of confederate jasmine up there? It will never be brought down.

I'd say even more so that the war and slavery, this is what started us on the long, slow descent into what we have become today.

They tell the entire South to shut the frick up and accept whatever they say. Which is exactly what the war was fought over.

Yep what we are going through today is frighteningly similar to what started the civil war...except it is portrayed as a struggle between political and social ideas rather than the south vs the north.

That's why I don't understand the celebration from the people who want it down. What are they really celebrating? If they would stop and think for a few minutes, this just doesn't hurt "whitey", it effects each and every one of us. From the people who live here, from the tourists who have come here and have seen the monument, to the ones that'll never get to see it now. It's a sad day for the people of NOLA, not a time for celebration.

I know right? Can't wait for the last 25% of murders and violence and all around thugitry that plagues the city.

Tomorrow will usher in a new time in New Orleans. A time without blight. Murder. Violence. Poverty. All will be forever gone tomorrow.

Oh...... Wait.... Nope. Thugs gonna keep on thuggin. At least they won't have to look up at that weird white guy statue that damn near none of them even knew was there or who it was.
