Whoa that was quick.

The chances of either lasting 3 yrs is low, very low. It is well worth the $30. Battery will go out at a minimum.

We love ours. We have a lab that stays inside and does wonders with her shedding

Does the Neato have any issues climbing onto a rug?

Not at all. It goes from hard floor to carpet or rug just fine. The latest firmware added fringe detection, so if it detects that it's on the fringes of a rug it'll back up and go around to try to avoid getting tangled. I don't have a rug with fringes, though, so I can't tell you how well it works. About the only thing I've ever had problems with are very tall thresholds, as I mentioned earlier. I have one threshold that's about an inch higher than the floor and the Neato really can't cross the threshold because of ground clearance.

Years ago, I purchased a Roomba when they first came out. Worked great. Had an indoor dog, and left the house one day before the Roomba was scheduled to operate. The dog got sick inside the house, and the Roomba went right through it and proceeded to leave remnants of dog vomit throughout the entire house.

I do too where the previous home owner put wood floors right on top of the old flooring however it is slanted and a 90 degree step

Got the neato xv21 for Christmas. Fiance and I swept every day be for then. Got it and ran and was amazed at the amount of dog hair it picked up. I run it every night at midnight and it still picks up half full bin every night. I've had a couple issues with it getting stuck trying to go under the couch or not making it back to the charger but not often. It is a tad loud but thats why i put it to run late at night while im sleeping. To the poster about running it with a motion detector, i set mine to stay every night and there are no problems. Overall I love it.

I bought a Roomba yesterday morning. My floors haven't looked this clean since I moved in. I bet I spent a good hour yesterday afternoon just following it around and staring at it like a dumb arse as it dominated my floor.

Haha, we should be compensated for the spike in sales.
My, XV-21 will be here Tuesday. I am planning on naming him Eugene, but that may change based on his personality.

It's awesome. To address some of the criticism. My Roomba slows down noticeably before running into anything. I think the sensor system has been improved dramatically over time. I really don't think anyone can go wrong with the current Roombas or a Neato.
