It's actually MORE exclusive at the larger schools in TX from what I've seen due to the amount of "legacy" members. Larger volume of grads leads to that naturally. I went to TCU about 20 years ago and there were only 2 or 3 frats that didn't have any black members and only one that I can remember as being all white (and they were primarily the old money land-owner sons types).

I don't think it's necessarily just parents. I'd hate for my parents to be judged on all of my decisions.
This is obviously wrong, and obviously immature. But as someone who went through the Greek system, this has more to do with the "elite" mentality than what parents teach. For a lot of kids, this is the first time on their own, and they've been sheltered by parents who had money. So when they get to college, they join a group of other like minded kids and some can act like entitled pricks. I loved my time in the Greek system, but there are definitely undertones of I'm better than other people because my dad owns a dealership. These kids for the most part have never really lived life, and to them they feel that since they are middle class white guys, they can say this crap. Most of them will learn, some won't. But I don't think all of their parents are to blame. At least I don't think their parents taught them to be so stupidly racist. Maybe they are to blame that they didn't teach their kid how to not fall into the trap of acting like a moron by being an entitled prick.
Some obviously get it from their parents, but I know my political/religious/etc. views can be vastly different than my parents and I got a lot of that in college.
