I talked to a storm chaser one time and he said the worse nightmare is tracking them in Alabama and Missisippi.

Anyone know when the most severe of this system will be passing near/through the New Orleans metro area?

Mine, too. Just reporting that it's not bad in mandeville, or at least my location.

Maybe a nice time to just study in the library for a couple of hours. You could probably track the storms on your computer.
Don't go out in this especially if you are headed to Livingston or Ascension.

Heavy wooded areas . Mainly in rain wrapped super cells
Super cells typical track is north central miss through central Alabama . Some of the worse outbreaks outside of tornado ally are in that area .

Bad road network, lots of trees, usually the tornadoes are wrapped in a thunderstorm and are harder to see.
I think the only pictures of the Yazoo City tornado from a few years ago was from right when it touched down. Everyone lost it after it crossed I-55.

Why? Is BR out of the woods or is it worse out east?
Right now a tornado warned cell is passing across the south east and eastern side of the Baton Rouge metro.
In about an hour, a line of possibly even stronger cells will pass over the Baton Rouge area.

On the news, they just showed like a very clear a water spout pic from lake pontchartrain, and the meteorologist goes "yep, that is a water spout. no doubt about it. that's what they look like."
