Fulltilt Weather might be very legit but it would be helpful if they could write coherently.
Yeah, that was painful to read and is a bit dramatic.

Derecho keeps coming to mind here. (ETA: might not meet the definition for time frame but everything is screaming those kind of wind impacts)
Stout jet + developing low riding on a strong temperature gradient.

Winds speeding up from the Gulf and a fast moving front
Posted on 1/9/20 at 4:42 pm to Duke
Yep. Particularly farther north this is shaping up as a major wind event with supercell potential out front. Of course, embedded spinup tornadoes are possible. The latest tweet by one of the local north AL mets has 55+ sustained with gusts 10-15 mph higher.
I think we will see multiple instances of an entire line being tornado warned, as the NWS has proven they will do with a line like this in recent history.

So far this January (6 days) : Baton Rouge average temperature is + 4.0 F above normal and New Orleans mean temperature is +6.9 F above normal .
Above normal temperatures expected in Baton Rouge thru at least the 13th of January.
Wasn't Jan 2019 warmer than normal, as well?

In semi related news. The GFS has lost its damn mind with an artic blast around the 22nd.
Highs in the 20s and lows in the teens.

Yeah it's got ice in the middle of Florida on the 24th. I don't think that's gonna happen.

Agreed. First and only experience in my life with a derecho left me without power for 2 days.
