Maybe they should consider doing Jazz Fest another time of year without so much weather volatility.
Like when?

That's a Chase bank in those first two pictures. The Applebees next door didn't get any damage apparently. Even tornadoes want nothing to do with Applebees.

not to mention the weather has been fantastic the past few weeks disregarding the 6 hour front passings here and there.

As long as they are at the fairgrounds, that will be tough to so. The weather in the fall is crazy as well, the summer is too damn hot, and the winter is for horse racing.
Now, maybe if they ever move to the City Park Festival Grounds, they could do it in the winter.

With these types of daytime storms, why is it always darker just before the rain starts?
It's complicated, but basically with these storms the updraft gets stretched out to the east as it goes up. Higher wind speeds as you go up. So the clouds end up the highest right in front and with the heaviest precip at the front edge of the storm.

I wouldn't mind it if they moved it up a few weeks so the weather would be cooler but that would probably conflict with FQ Fest.

the reports now say the 2 killed in the Ruston tornado were a mother and son killed when a tree fell on their home

I’ve thought about this and the only time that could be doable would be last week of March first week of April. Then again the city may lose money placing jazz fest between Mardi Gras and French quarter fest.
Anything from mid May to August is to damn hot and also rain/hurricane issues. fall is a no-no because that’s when the fair grounds start rolling with horse races.

More likely time for severe weather too. This time of year is getting to the end of our severe weather season. The rest of the weekend is going to be pretty and will stay that way for the next week.

Really! You have to strike off June to November for hurricane season. You also have to mark off the Mardi Gras season which lasts from late January (at the latest) until sometime in March in some years. You really can't have a festival that large in N.O. during football season because the NFL isn't going to schedule around it.
Looks like you'd be stuck with about 2 weeks in January.

Cant do it...race season is just wrapping up and Jazz Fest takes 3-4 weeks to set up....

you should find out when the tornado will be in town... then run right into it

March 23rd is the Louisiana Derby Day and Jazz Fest literally starts setting up the very next day

Didn't think about the Derby, but yeah, it would have to be now considering that.

Probably got a tornado just south of Kiln, MS currently. Don't think it'll last long.
