The News Star

quote:

Two people were killed in Ruston as a tornado ripped through the town and Louisiana Tech University campus early Thursday morning.

Ruston Mayor Ronny Walker confirmed the two fatalities, but declined to identify them.

"It's bad; real bad," Walker said. "We took a direct hit."

Also heard two deaths in Ruston. I heard the train sound/roar in my house when it came through. Pretty scary, I hate tornadoes.

There was a tornado warning just after 5 AM that woke me but it was to my south in Rapides Parish... but yeah this line is definitely kicking this morning

A number of severe thunderstorm warnings around and the tornado watch was just extended to 8 AM

I got woken up by a tornado warning around 4:15 here in Beauregard parish. Nothing hit here directly but it was storming its dick off and the ground was shaking for a good 5 minutes straight, so i wouldn’t be surprised to hear of something close by.

They were saying when I went to bed that the tornado threat was very low and that heavy rain would probably be about the extent. That was as scary of a storm as I can remember. They dropped the ball on that completely.

This isn’t even worthy of a thread. Will be nothing more than a rain shower with a breeze and some thunder

Good call. Now we have 2 dead in Ruston.

But people keep shitting on these threads.

The OT didnt.

Its April in Dixie alley. Anything can happen.

It's only a matter of time before we start getting larger and more violent storms. I just dread the day when its a long lasting F4 or above.

Glad no significant damage happened in your area

No one needs to be shitting on weather threads. Its every week some shite happens now.

My son is a LATech student. His dorm is literally at the left field fence to the baseball stadium.

Tornado rolled right by him no more than 200’ feet from his dorm.

I’m one thankful Dad today that he is safe

Yeah man, that's crazy. I'd say go have a lunch or dinner together at a nice place when possible just to do it.

Sad the people lost their lives over this.

Just FaceTimed with him. The ballfields are trashed. He told me he thinks the side of the tornado hit his building.

He and his roommate dove into their bathroom to the sounds of screeching metal and trees pulling out of the ground.

Says the water was sucked out of his toilet which freaked them out at the time.

His car is trapped by debris. It looks like the parking lot next to the field is heavily damaged
