That makes sense. I thought the smell was the gangrene he said he got in the war.

I'm not crazy, my mother had me tested!
I'm actually a candidate for MENSA.

In my parents home I had a king size bed. Whenever I had friends over we would just share the bed. One night, my cousin, and our closest mutual friend were staying the night. They were yacking with each other, and I'm looking at the foot of the bed, when I saw a pair of feet about a foot above the bed. I follow the feet up, and it was a woman in a farm dress with an apron on, and a rope around her neck that went up through the ceiling. I elbowed my cousin, both guys looked at me, and I just pointed. They both stopped talking and moving and were just staring at the woman. As all three of us were staring at her back, she slowly began twisting around on the rope. As her face was coming into view, I could tell that her eyes were closed. I just knew that if she turned so that she was facing us, her eyes would pop open and she would start screaming, and probably lunge at us. So, I did the only logical thing. I jumped up and ran from the room. Both guys were right behind me the whole way, with not one word exchanged between us. When we reached the front of the house, I asked what they had seen, without saying a word of what I had seen, and they described the exact same woman.

I used to live in a very paranormally active house in Norfolk, VA.
One night I was taking my first born upstairs to put her in bed, and when I reached the top of the stairs, for the briefest of moments I felt a pair of hands on my chest that knocked me off balance. Almost sent both of us falling down the stairs, but I was able to shift my weight and regain my balance without dropping my daughter.
Norfolking way.

It's amazing how certain people can have multiple paranormal experiences yet the rest of us all think it's a joke.
How does that work... if you have one then you just keep seeing more ghost stuff?

Never done meth, crack, or any hallucinogenics. I work for the Gov. I get drug tested.

Does the government know you see dead people?

Depending on which old country folks you talk to, it's either a bloodline thing, your were born with a veil over your face, or something like the way celestial bodies were aligned when you were born.

You know how I know that I'm not crazy?
Nobody has ever gotten me tested or suggested I get tested.
ETA: As for intelligence being an excuse for not being crazy.
Ever heard of John Nash?

The first part was a joke, I was quoting Sheldon Cooper from The Big Bag Theory. The second part is true though.
No, where I'm from, nobody thinks you're crazy when you say you have seen a ghost, because it is common.
My hometown has a legend of being burned by a dead witch, I mean, c'mon!

Can't say I believe in ghosts. Not something I concern myself with, really.
That said, I was sitting on my easy chair watching football. Home alone. Wife and kids at the in-laws house.
My TV was on the wall next to the doorway opening to the hallway which leads to the bedrooms/bathroom. The hall light was on and has an old switch. Like 1950s old. It is a very "heavy" switch compared to all the other modern switches that have been upgraded in the house.
So, there I sit. The hall light is on. I'm watching football just chilling and drinking an adult beverage....and POP. Hall light goes out. Obvious, since I'm facing that way and I get the visual and audio (its a very loud switch) of the light going out. So, I focus my attention there expecting to see one of my kids. But then I remembered, they aren't home.
So, I sit there and comprehend what just happened. I walk into the hall and flip it back on. Light comes on. Modern switches you can get to stick half way (I know, I tried). This one, you cannot. I tried like 30 times. Its either on, or off.
No clue how that switch flipped down. I can't for the life of me replicate what happened. Ghost or whatever, don't know. Power surge...not likely. Stuck half way, can't do it. Not a damn clue. Maybe it was ET in an invisible suit fricking with me. Whatever it was, I shrugged it off cuz there ain't a thing I can do about it.

We had a similar thread the other night and it displayed this exactly. Very few posters had middle ground. Then again, this isn't the most open minded forum on the interwebz anyways.

The same thing has happened to me twice... both occurences were in the home I grew up in, and on both occasions there was an audible click from a "heavy" toggle switch. The two occasions involved two different switches, and neither had an "in-between" position - they were either on or off. The first time it happened, I was sitting alone, and a light went out in the room I was in...I looked around thinking my brother was playing with me, but I was truly alone...my brother was across the street at a neighbors house. The second time it happened my entire family was eating in the dining room, and a loud click was heard and the lights in the living room came on. I'm not saying it was paranormal, but it was definitely noteworthy both times.
