I am against it because I don't like the idea of the state killing its own citizens.
Thanks to over zealous prosecutors and legal system, we have probably murdered an innocent man, and that hangs on all of us.
I am also incredibly worried people will push the envelope on what crimes should be punishable by death.

Yes, we should, and the reason, is thugs, shitbags, dickjaws have ZERO remorse for ending life and ZERO fear of the police and the Jail system.
They have neutered the Cops. No more using your night stick, and any legit shooting is always ur fault, and criminal is the one who deserves our sympathy.
So, these POS will learn, as they watch their buddy get caned near death, then put in front of people to be laughed at, then thrown in jail.
And others who are even worse, will get caned near death, then hung. People fear and relate the noose to so many things, so let's bring it back.
If we had a civilized nation, where people respected the law and respected peoples lives, then we wouldn't need it, times are changing, and for the worse.

Violent crime is way down from the 90s

Hahahahahahhaa.
So the militarization of police is all in our heads? Last time I checked, armored police troop carriers, military grade weapons, no knock warrants, and the ability to just take money from the populace (civil asset forfeiture) all thoroughly debunk your argument.

I'm in favor of public torture and execution. You would have far less people committing crimes if they knew they were going to be gutted and balls chopped off. No quick bullit/hanging/syringe for you my friend.

99.9999999999999999999999999999999% of criminals are guilty as charged.
That's why I oppose the death penalty.
That simply isn't true. I bet the only people you think are innocent are white dudes charged with rape.
I love how this board gets up in arms for shite like the duke lax case but then assumes all black people are guilty

Cause throughout human history public execution has stopped so much violent crime...

The best way to deter violent crime is for the punishment to so severe that no one would want to have it happen to them.
For example, you murder multiple people. Punishment = being fed feet first into a wood chipper.

Definitely. Public hanging, firing squad, the works.
I personally think we should bring back boiling in oil.
It always struck me that King Henry VIII missed out on a perfect comedy opportunity. He should have had his second wife Anne executed like that.
That way he could've walked by her casually as she was being killed And remarked, "Oh look. it's Anne...
Boilin'"

Yes public execution has and always will be a deterrent to big crimes. Just because we aren't executing people bravehart style anymore; doesn't mean it didn't work at keeping the masses in check.
We should also cut fingers off if caught stealing. If you don't steal, you have nothing to worry about.

They used to hang pickpockets in England. Pick pocketing crime never went down.

Well you don't KNOW that it hasn't. Maybe some folks decided to go straight because of it and so you can't definitively say it hasn't. You have no knowledge of crimes that weren't committed.

So by that token, you don't know if it has deterred anyone.
9 put of the top 10 murder per capita states have the death penalty. Six out of the bottom ten do not have the death penalty.

Exactly. BUT I didn't make the claim that it has failed to deter. We DO know for a fact that it IS a deterrence for those that are executed.
Our judicial system is certainly flawed. Not by race, geography, or gender...but by money. Rich folks who are convicted do not get executed. Have innocent folks been put to death? Certainly, without a doubt. Have innocent folks been killed by a lax system? Without a doubt. I would GUESS that far more folks have been saved by the death penalty being used than innocent killed.

I say we take them to the gallows and scalp them. Then, use a sharp stake to nail the scalp into their mouth to muffle their screams. Turn them upside down, spread their legs and use an ax to begin cutting them in two. Then, have two men grab either leg and split the body in two with their entrails plopping all over the floor.
We then proceed to cook them and feed them to the crowd.
Now that's what I call a public execution.
