And you're also smarter.

Going outside and confronting a perp is actually endangering yourself and family.

You'd only do so if you were itching for your first kill, like most posters in this thread.

Stay inside, call the cops, have weapon at the ready.

I don't understand how calling the cops = pussy, but going outside to investigate and then having to shoot the man when he makes you nervous = badass.

So anytime someone is outside making any kind of the slightest suspicion, best to stay inside and call the cops? Why not go investigate? If things get out of hand from that point on, well then stand your ground and protect yourself.

In Texas it is perfectly legal to shoot someone that is in your yard or on your property if it dark outside

That doesn't mean that Texas law isn't fricking stupid.

Well if you're retarded enough to think this way you'll probably knock off some autistic man and kill a neighbor at the same time.

Judging by his criminal history he was most likely looking for something to steal or in the act of stealing. If you are rummaging around in a strangers yard at night you should expect something real bad can happen to you.

So let's say pizza delivery guy gets the address wrong. Nutjob sees intruder in his yard and shoots him.

Is that murder?

There has to be some reasonable standard.. take the pro-shoot anyone on my property crowd.. and ignore them. Take the "lock your door, hide, and call the cops" crowd.. and ignore them.

The middle area is probably reasonable

Exactly right. If I go outside and confront this dude looking to be John Rambo, and he is armed I have exposed myself and my kids to unnecessary risk. Everyone is much safer with 911 on the speaker phone, in a defensive position, and the 12 gauge pointed at the door.

According to some people in this thread the pizza man was trespassing so yes he deserved to be shot.

Yeah this situation probably bodes well for the shooter, but some of the takes in this thread are laughable. George Zimmerman is a hero for many in this thread apparently, because calling the cops would have made him a pussy, but getting his arse whipped by a kid and then resorting to "standing his ground" and shooting him is admirable.

Being legally justified doesn't prevent you from being an imbecile.

I just listened to a part of the presser and apparently it was justified. Flores was on Triple C and was shot less than 3 feet from the shooter indicating he was going after the homeowner while standing inside his home.

Sounds like this is a pretty cut and dry case. Homeowner will not be charged and this story goes away.

Of course this is the OT so I expect five more pages of pointless debating and chest bumping
