LSUwag is it your home or vacation home? Pain either way but I hope it's not home home.
Good luck and stay safe.
(Maybe some face masks or respirators preferably?? People here were getting sick after cleaning up from the floods and the respirator may have helped.)

Home Depot. N-95 respirators. Gloves. Goggles.

While not ideal, it is not horrible. Are you going to rebuild the 2x4 structure, skin it with plywood, then roof it or are you just going up with a roll of screen and a couple cans of Flexspr
No, knowing my parents...they'll fix it the best way possible, and pay for it. Really happy that's all that went wrong. I'll be in Cocoa Beach this weekend helping anyone who needs it. My goofy arse will probably just be in the way, but we'll see how it goes.

Why do the back quadrants of hurricanes completely disappear from radar as they interact with land? Is that from the land and dry air choking the circulation?

I hope Angel Oak has 1 more storm in that beautiful bastard
Was just now reading thru what I missed from the last time I read this thread and was going to actually post something about Angel Oak when I came across your post. I hope and pray it can withstand this. That Oak has seen so much history..I wish it could talk. It's estimated to be between 400-500 yrs old so it has withstood some pretty massive storms as well as the Charleston earthquake and God only knows what else in its lifetime. I know it's massive, but damn even I did not realize this fact about it:
quote:
The Angel Oak Tree is estimated to be in excess of 400-500 years old, stands 66.5 ft (20 m) tall, measures 28 ft (8.5 m) in circumference, and produces shade that covers 17,200 square feet (1,600 m2).
Damn. For those of you who have never experienced the grandeur of Angel Oak, here's a picture:
Located on John's Island, so all of us South Carolinians who cherish Angel Oak are hoping and praying that it survives this.

Think it's called the Angel Oak. It's amazing in person.

I understand a lot of people have been affected and my heart goes out to them...but the coverage ive seen on weather channel is laughable

Vacation home. I'm very fortunate that my primary house only had a little bit of damage that I can repair myself.

Great idea!

Wheelbarrow, hammers, chalk line, pry bar, snow shovel type shovel, gloves, bleach, concrobrium, shop vac(s), brooms. Don't need respirators as you shouldn't have mold if you work fast enough.
Really don't need the chalk line ether if you have a drywall seem at 48.5". Easiest way is to knock a hole in the wall about 40" or so, reach through the hole, feel the seem from the back and pull from there. Quickest way
Good luck, sorry that's happened to you. Welcome to the club I guess?

Looks like there could be significant flooding in Savannah as high tied and max storm surge are coming in.

Where can I access those radar images like you're using, rds dc?

That's a lot of water. Cleanup and restore is going to suck.

We came back from Tallahassee to a house off Kernan. Power on everywhere here, but tons of oak trees down and debris everywhere.
