Good luck finding a good 2nd line in Houston or Dallas or good gumbo. And you're gonna be jealous seeing everyone having fun at Mardi Gras and Jazz Fest. I just can't live without crawfish.

I could literally give two shits about any of that. Don't miss LA at all.

I make my own gumbo. Never order it. Learned a long time ago nobody here knows how to make a good gumbo. I don't miss the trash and culture at Mardis Gras, but when I Jones for it, I can afford to fly in, stay at a nice hotel and not deal with the mess of hosting a crawfish boil.

I'm from Louisiana and live in Houston - daughter wants to go to LSU then move back to TX

I'm sure our daughter will consider LSU being me and the wife went there and are from there. But, being with all of her friends here may change her mind.

It all goes back to poor governance at the local and state levels. Corrupt political machine, soft on crime policy, and leaders who whish to champion social causes rather than figuring out how to attract high paying jobs.

I agree with priority of educating local population (TOPS) but it is worthless without jobs for the graduates.

I've followed politics in Louisiana and I'm not impressed with the intellectual capacity of most of its leaders.

Was on a road trip this week, driving through the Midwest and down through the Southeast. The amount of economic development, both public and private, blew me away.
Especially Tennessee and Georgia. Both seemed to be on fire economically.
All while Louisiana crumbles.

This is my fav reason.

Can we be honest and replace this with "being close to a free babysitter is important to many people".

If you were to give every family who said this $2k a month stipend they would leave in a heartbeat.

My kids and I have a nice agreement that they will go to college in Louisiana to use TOPS, but then after that, we are all moving from this shithole.

If one of them gets a big scholly out of state, then they will leave sooner.

Can't wait.
