Eliminate the minimum wage.
If minimum wage keeps going up you can bet that more and more of those jobs will be replaced by computers like self checkouts in WalMart for example.

The min. wage is artificially low because we subsidize low wager earners with welfare (of all forms.) The min. wage lost pace with inflation at exactly the time the war on poverty began. We're subsidizing both worker and employer.

The crazy thing is, they have NO min wage laws right now and yet they are going to vote on a friggin $25 min wage?
Also, they have among the most prosperous societies on Earth WITHOUT a min wage. Why in the frick is this even on a ballot? Is Valerie Jarrett running shite over there too?

What good does minimum wage do if the supply of goods does not increase? All minimum wage does is shift the demand curve upward. What happens to a product when its supply stays the same, but demand increases? Raise the minimum wage, and you raise the poverty line.
Why do we treat the labor market differently than other markets. Wage should be subjected to market forces. The same people who support min wage would probably shriek and bitch if price floors were put on appliances, etc.

Minimum wage advocates think it's "wise" to raise prices (wages) on a commodity (labor) that is in surplus (unemployed individuals).
Retards....all of 'em.
Retards....all of 'em.

I just don't see why people to my right are against an increase in minimum wage but fine with the ceos of these companies making a few thousand times what their employees make.
Very simple. CEO's are worth more because they bring a shite pile more to the table, not to mention all their cards/chips are on the table because they are responsible for the company they are running. Something goes wrong and their arse is on the chopping block (high risk/high reward). That CEO is providing leadership and vision instead of just managing the candy store. The job is usually 24/7. Been there and lived to retire.

Why is this even a major issue. Very few people even make min wage, and those that do tend to be teens.

Socialism works in homogenous countries.
Socialism would never work in America

There should be no minimum wage in this country. None.

But CEOs make exponentially more today than they did in the 50s 60s 70s and 80s while everybody else more or less stays with rate of inflation. Thats the "problem".

It's not a problem unless the poor are suffering. This isn't the case in the US.

quote:Why? Why is that bad? Does the fact that a CEO makes significantly more than a worker somehow "hurt" the worker. A ceo and a worker are more equal than at anytime in history. Both have the same smartphone, same appliances, etc. Why does income difference even matter.

WHY WHY WHY does it matter?

quote:"Not suffering" is an understatement. Our poor have the best access to luxury goods they have ever had in the history of this nation. Lefties decry income inequality (which in and of itself is not a bad thing), yet conveniently ignore that our poor have the same phone as the ceo, the same type of tv, the same food, the same entertainment.

Why does inequality matter when a dollar takes you farther than it ever has? Unless Munichbengal is insane and thinks a worker from the 70s was better off than a current worker .

I'm just bitter about free-market capitalism since the Saints ripped it from underneath me and stole my season tickets. That was my tether - I may as well be a socialist now since I've got nothing cooking entrepreneurial wise anymore.
Speaking of unprecedented decadence for the middle and upper middle class in today's America, I'm going to crank some reggae on the sonos (or "sono" as the rappers call it), smoke some sour diesel and get ready for my main mon bill maher to call out Michael Sam for being a huge attention whore.

Most people, even moderate lefties will agree that inequality is good for a society as long as the rich aren't increasing while everyone else is losing ground.
Life's easier than it's ever been for people in every socioeconomic class.

Truth is, there's more free market capitalism going on in the purchase of your weed than the purchase of your season tickets. The Dome is partially subsidized by taxpayers, right?
