I've been trying without success to find an article I read that proclaimed Bloody Mary's to be the fastest-growing drink in terms of popularity across the globe. Especially among women.
I know in New Orleans, Sunday Brunch almost always features Bloodies.

Found it:

Great Gatsby fever makes Bloody Mary the hottest drink choice of 2013, say Britain's top bartenders
This summer is set to see a bloody revolution - with the red-hot tipple of choice being the Bloody Mary cocktail.
Bartenders across Britain are hailing the tomato and vodka concoction as the hottest drink of 2013 - and the spike in popularity is thanks to Great Gatsby fever.
Premiering on May 15 at the Cannes Film Festival, Baz Lurhmann's hotly anticipated film is set during the jazz age, when the Bloody Mary was first mixed.
The Prohibition era saw speakeasys become the high of fashion - and cocktails were key - with powerful flavoured mixers used to mask the taste of bootlegged booze.

i'd like to know what they consider "whiskey"
went to south america a few weeks ago and every menu under "whiskey" was just JW scotches, no american whisky/bourbon

I don't even like vodka but I drink more of it than the rest of the liquors combined. Vodka's just always around and goes with everything. Tequila is easily my favorite but I never mix it and taking tequila shots doesn't come up much.

map is pretty dumb. It only gives those 6 choices. I'd be much more interested in what the most popular liquor is overall in each country. I know for a fact in Turkey it is Raki. To say vodka is their liquor of choice is dumb.
Exactly. Korea almost exclusively drinks soju. The amount of whiskey consumed compared to soju is probably a fraction of a percent.

Similar to Rakija. Popular drink in many slavic countries. Basically moonshine.

We are, apparently, one vodka-drinking nation.
I blame Sex in the City

quote:lol vodka itself is shite but it mixes amazingly with both of those drinks you mentioned. I'm ashamed to admit cranberry and vodka or oj and vodka are my go to drinks. Red Bull and vodka works because energy drinks already taste fricking weird.
