You're assuming you're the only male using the toilet. Say you have company and your beer drinking buddies are over for a few rounds. Now how does your wife know they all raised and lowered the seat, not knowing their habits. Like I said, if I were a woman, I'd just soon they leave it up.
Maybe some ladies will give us an opinion.

This ^^^^
The thing has a lid for a reason. Water droplets fling everywhere if the lid/seat is up, putting shite/piss water on your sink, toothbrush, floor, and anything else in the area.
You frickers are nasty with tiny shite stains all over your bathroom.
