It’s not really historically significant.

The Bituminous Coal Commission was a Commission that was deemed illegal by the US Supreme Court.

There is some historical significance here

It’s definitely not an auto pen. The letter spacing is compressed and was probably rushed given the ink is smeared. But, I think it’s secretarial. Other signatures from that timeframe don’t exhibit the vertical waviness and the F and the T seem off.

I doubt it’s a secretary signed document. They usually signed stuff like general letters, etc, not official documents like this. Plus the signature is a dead ringer for the signatures that are PSA certified.

Since you found it on the first day of the sale I assume you paid top dollar.

Actually it was the 4th day of the sale. It was all last weekend, and they brought out more artwork this weekend. Not sure if this piece was out last weekend

Has it been authenticated?

I bought it two hours ago, so no. ??

The seal looks raised. Is it wax?

It’s very deteriorated, but it looks like wax

Not trying to rain on your parade, but I find it hard to believe that someone in possession of something signed by a sitting president would have no idea of its value.

It wasn’t cheap, they had it marked in the low 3 figures.

Where has it been hiding?

Found it today at an estate sale in New Orleans (I know, who has an estate sale the day after Christmas?).

It was one of the giant houses on City Park Drive.

Could you explain what makes it so special?

A signed commission by the POTUS, from 90 years ago
It’s a signed 1935 Commission for the Bituminous Coal Commissioner, signed by FDR and secretary of State.

Does the new Pac-Man “1Up” home games have the pattern in it where you can play the game for ever?

I have never had the need for a late night pharmacy.

Until you need one.

A good pain med to get you thru the night until the next day can mean a ton of relief.

All grown and grandkids as well. If there is something a child "needs" from a pharmacy at 1AM then you should probably just stay in the emergency room. That 1AM amoxicillin isn't going to fix it in an hour. I guess my point was that the OP knew the hours and locations of multiple pharmacies pre and post covid...and his name doesn't imply small kids at home.

What does me knowing pre & post covid pharmacies have to do with it?

Less than two years ago, I had a fever, went to a walk in clinic, found out I had the flu. Got prescribed the medicine for the flu, if taken in the early stages, pretty much knocks out the symptoms. Only pharmacy that was open was Acadian & Government, I got there about midnight, got it filled. If it had been closed, I would have had to wait until the next day, pretty much making the medicine useless.

Last night, my daughter went to the ER when the walk-in clinic suggested her to go (the new hospital in Dutchtown, very nice place).

She gets three scripts, one was an antibiotic and one was a pain med. She was still in pain and the antibiotic and pain med would have given her a lot of relief. She had to suffer thru the night until today.

I happened to be at that Walgreens a few years ago around 11pm because it was the only one in the area open and the cashier was telling someone that they were about to stop being 24 hours. Cashier was talking about how shoplifting was rampant in the overnight hours and they couldn't do anything about it. (This was during the time when it became general knowledge that retailers told their employees not to try to stop it)

That store is still open 24hrs (only one in BR), but the pharmacy itself is not open
Pre-Covid, there where four in the BR area, Sherwood Forest, Essen Lane, corner Govt & Acadian, and one in Gonzales.

After Covid, it went down to one on Acadian and Government.

Now there are zero

I would love to be able to tell him something about it.

Congratulations!! Great run. Perhaps cash out and buy Christmas presents. I wish I had. My kids are getting handmade cards this year because dad couldn’t stop live betting.

I hope you know calligraphy
I’m on the verge of buying this

That was an awesome group.

Funny thing is I had them on Facebook marketplace and some Dipshit came by to buy them. I had them for $700 or best offer. He shows up and says these are not worth $700 and shows me some auction on eBay that 300 sold for 50 bucks. I said yes 300 45’s for $50 but what was included? The 300 Albums online for 50 bucks had 10 rock ‘n’ roll, 10 country, and 280 miscellaneous records.
So then he asked me if he could go through them and pick out the ones he wanted. I told him frick no. I have not been through them, and he will not dig through them either.
