Hobbies take you away from the world a good therapist give you the tools to meet the world head on AND it makes your hobbies time more fulfilling because the end doesn't have the dreed of returning to the real world.

For years I bristled at the idea of therapy but after a particularly bad year marked with death and severe illness in my close family, building a house and major upheavals at my firm on the prodding of my wife I relented. It was the best thing I ever did. I was given the tools to manage all the issues and I felt like a weight had been lifted off me and every facet of my life was better. I have since transitioned to a colleague of my original therapists who specializes in performance coaching. I am objectively and subjectively better at my profession and my stress level is significantly lower.

Good post. I've seen the same therapist for 5 years. She's really helped me deal w/my anxiety w/o having to resort to medication. I've been able to control it whenever I do feel it building up.

Everyone should talk to a therapist at least once a year. It does wonders for your mental health.

How the hell does a therapist help in anyway. Don't they regurgitate whatever you tell them?

That kid doesn't need therapy. That one needs an arse whipping and some blisters on his hands from work

This. Period.

They want you to think so, so you'll have to pay a therapist. Its a racket.

If I had to finger five people on this board who could use therapy, you’d be one.

This whole antiquated machismo act from these hardos who downplay mental health and its role in our happiness, success, and grasping what life can be, is embarrassing. They’re the Ted Haggards of medicine.

I don’t use therapy, personally, but have seen the enormous benefits it offers firsthand. I should probably talk to one as I know I have aspects of my mental health I can improve but, in the interim, it’s nice to know that the option is there should I feel changes are necessary.
