Name another country that has made it so easy for 13% of it's population to succeed only to have that population constantly blame everyone else for it's problems. The bottom line is until the black community starts to value education and family values nothing will ever get better for them.

I agree with you completely. I’m saying the problems are mostly psychological. With the right mindset to see past the short sighted pitfalls created by the left any black person can succeed.

It’s all good. We don’t have to agree on everything.

Man, you are dead on! I’ll add another. Affirmative action casts doubt on the accomplishments of every black achiever. Many white people and Asians assume black people are promoted due to their race instead of their ability. This stigmatizes them and foments racism.

Very true.

And I should have completed my statement. I think the right has failed black people for not calling these issues out because of fear of being labeled racist.

The cool thing about being hispanic is we get looked down on by blacks and whites. But we also get to sit back and laugh at both

Your title is also accurate if you swap black people and country. Its both

the mentality currently is "what will the govt give me?"

it should be "what do I get if I work for it?"

Democrats orchestrated this disaster and republicans sat by quietly and didn’t say anything for fear of being called racist

I’m going to disagree with the second part. Republicans are culpable because they never address pathos, allowing it to fester and guaranteeing that eventually we will have a democratic party solution that will entail big government. Why is the Republican party doing nothing about police brutality and horrible prison conditions? Why, when they knew a majority was building for universal health care, didn’t the Republicans install a voucher system?

The problem with the right is that, in spite of having most of the right ideas, we are by nature reactionary, so we never preempt the progressives. If we could combine the good intentions of the progressives with the rational sense of the conservatives we’d really have something.

The black community as a whole is sorely missing a true leader. Those who lead them are often just using them for their own agendas.

Obama had a unique opportunity IMO to unite this country, but he failed us all miserably because he didn't REALLY care. All he did was widen the divide with his rhetoric. The black community sorely needs another MLK. to guide them with the right principles.

OP is spot on in some important areas. Unfortunately too many black people are too busy foaming at the mouth right now and placing blame on others to look in the mirror and think critically.

Other races need to do a better job at this point with listening first and trying to understand what it is like to walk in their shoes. Then black people may be more willing to think critically about how to improve outcomes.
