Was just reading an article about a "Opportunity Center" in Florida. Basically where they send the trouble makers.
After the release of a video that allegedly showed two students pummeling another student, a Florida school district, for the first time, is ordering armed deputies on board buses to alternative high schools for at-risk students.
MyFoxTampaBay.com reported Thursday that the Polk County deputies will be on board buses headed to Don Woods and Bill Duncan Opportunity Centers near Tampa.
"We are going to have order on that bus one way or another," Dick Mullenax, a member of the Polk County school board, said. "We provide transportation to those schools, but if they can't behave, we will see where we go from there."
The move is called temporary and a sheriff spokesman said the measure will "guarantee the safety of those kids." The school district will implement other steps like keeping problematic children off the bus.
Parents told the station they don't mind the change in tone a uniformed police officer creates.
"Nowadays the kids are beating up the grownups. It's real bad, so yeah," said LeShon Pervall, also a parent.
My dad would not have let me live long enough to get to the point where I had to have an armed deputy sit beside me on the school bus b/c I couldn't control myself.

Should we take Jay-marc'damien off the bus cause he is really a worthless scum bag? No, lets don't do anything extreme like that....lets just put armed deputies on the county payroll on there to keep em straight....we just got to get em in school, they will straigten up in Civics class.

I have a special needs child, and even I don't believe in inclusion for every child. If a child is violent and disruptive, they should be removed. However, It's a slippery slope because there are administrators out there who will do anything to keep special needs kids out of regular ed classes, even when they belong with their peers. I don't know the answer to the bigger problem, but this kid should be kicked out. He won't be though.
I agree, not all special needs children deserve to be designated to a classroom based off of labels, especially if they are at a higher learning capacity.
We had a kid with Aspergers Syndrome at our school and he would do this sort of thing often. Eventually he hurt another student pretty badly and the school was forced to do something.
I don't think there is a clear cut answer, but if safety for other students is in jeopardy then it should be an easy choice. Unfortunately, doesn't appear as cut and dry in some cases

Someone needs to whip that little POS arse. If a bigger kid would break these little frickers jaws and make them sip broth through a straw for two months, maybe theyll learn
The kids go to recess with their grade only. My son is more than capable of handling the situation physically, but the school is aware that he is a green belt and he will be held to a higher responsibility if he actually hurts the other kid. He's returned the favor with a kidney shot but it does no good.
ETA: Our school is in a very affluent area with a very high parent participation rate. We actually have to limit the number of pRents who can volunteer per day bc it was disruptive to have so many around.
This child is emotionally disturbed and does not belong in the classroom. It's is district policy that makes it so difficult to have him removed.
