traffic isn't bad for a city of its size

Who lied to you? I lived in East Charlotte for 12 years and the traffic is absolutely terrible.

Better city to live in and raise a family than BR though for sure.

Traffic is only bad if you have to get on the I77/485 or Independence. If you live/work in Charlotte proper you can get pretty much any Point A to Point B in 30 minutes.

My wife and I lived in Charlotte for 3 years (2015-2018) and would still be there if didn't get the pull back to Louisiana to be closer to family. We can both see ourselves moving back later in life.

The quality of life there is fantastic. The city is growing quickly and the housing costs have increased, but not anything different from any other major city.

4 real 3-month seasons, which you can't fully appreciate until you live there. A quick drive to mountains or beach. Nice lakes/outdoors within an hour's drive. EVERYTHING IS CLEAN & NICE... which after coming back to Louisiana is even more noticeable than ever before.

Hey, Snap. man I'm sorry I never followed through and got up with you. You ever come back I'd love to catch around the golf. I'm going to be down there in October....

I’d basically agree. And if you live in Fort Mill, it’s a solid 20 miles to uptown. Same if you live up in Davidson.

I can’t imagine people who live in Round Rock and commute to downtown Austin have it any better. Not many big cities have easy 20 mile commutes.

You'll probably have higher taxes in Charlotte (or any major city) that's the price we pay for functioning city infrastructure.

Do it. You’ll wonder why you didn’t sooner. And when you go back to BR to visit, youll remember why you left.

Equivalent to winning the lottery.

Racking my brain I can't really find an area that BR beats Charlotte. Maybe if you can't imagine not attending LSU football games but aside from that Charlotte kills BR in probably every significant metric.

I’m looking at possibly relocating to Nashville.. How does the OT think that Charlotte & Nashville compare in terms of economy and overall quality of life?

Charlotte is arguably the best city in the Southeast.

They are very similar. Both growing at a rapid clip, COL is pretty even (slight advantage Nashville due to TN not having a state income tax), decent weather, all of the amenities. Nashville has a better cultural vibe but Charlotte is cleaner, has a better economy and more things to do IMO.

Nashville has a better restaurant/bar scene given that it gets so many tourists. Though I’d say it’s up to individual on whether or not being a tourist hot spot is a positive or negative for everyday living.

To me, it might get a little annoying.

I like Charlotte better from a geographical perspective as you can get to coast in 3 hours.

Economy probably depends on your industry, but generally speaking, both are booming and doing tremendously well.

There isn’t anything negative about leaving BR. The place is a shithole
