I feel the same way, and my kids do Little League and select. I’ll generously give my time and money to Little League, and I don’t mind fundraising for LL. I can’t ever see myself asking for donations for my kids’ select teams. One is a community-based organization that’s open to everyone. Little League frequently waives fees for families unable to pay regardless of player talent level. Select is pay to play. Not the same thing.
If you are asking for donations for travel ball, frick all the way off.
If there is a sale/raffle/pool etc, still feels scuzzy but at least the folks get or potentially get something for their money.
I could run a liquor raffle and say its for us to take the kids on vacation and it is exactly the same thing.
