My tinnitus started a few hours after the first Moderna vaccine shot. Dr said go see ENT who said hearing is ok except for high frequency. Dr now says too bad. Damn Fauci SOB.

I have it pretty bad from 30 years of playing music... any and all suggestions just to lower it a bit would be greatly appreciated.

Something I read that helps my (not severe) tinnitus. When the ringing starts, put your palms on your ears and wrap your fingers around the back of your neck so the middle finger tips don't quite touch. Looking straight forward, lift your middle fingers up off your neck and snap or thump them (sounds like a hollow thump) into your neck several times.
The ringing just...disappears. Works for my wife too, couldn't begin to explain why but don't care. frick tinnitus.

I’ve had it since I was mid 20s.
Mine is due to damage caused from being a touring musician.
You’ll get used to it.
Think of it as white noise.

Me too. Got a little worse out of the blue a few weeks ago.

Embrace it, because it’s not going anywhere.!

It can also come from a build up of eat wax, pushing on your eardrum. That's what happened to me.
I had to flush it out with 1/2 water, 1/2 peroxide, with a bulb.

Apparently not. I am really contemplating getting IEM's. I only do a 4 piece acoustic now, but still want to try and not make it worse.

I get it occasionally. You should pick up when it happens. The conversations are hilarious.

Weird. This just gave me 15 seconds of silence.

I've had it in my right ear since July 2nd, 1975.
Girl down the street next door to my friend tossed a Black Cat firecracker from behind me for attention as all the guys were messing around. Typical little girl throw was way off and it landed on my right shoulder. Thinking it was the large horsefly that had been nagging us, I shrugged and tilted my head to shoo it.
At least it didn't blow up further forward, like over my carotid artery. But ever since then I've had LOUD ringing in my right ear. Audiologist helps a bunch now that I wear hearing aids. With those in, I finally get peace from it. $4k+ and decades later.

Try avoiding all artificial sweeteners. My ears ring real bad if I eat just a tiny bit.

Meniere's Disease?
I have this as well as my brother. Not much you can do for it but eliminate salt and get on a diuretic.

Seems like most people either love them or hate them. Worth every penny if you can adjust to the isolation, especially if you can control your own (preferably stereo) mix and get them dialed in just right.
You do have to be careful with IEM’s as well though. Many are capable of causing severe hearing damage in their own right. Built in limiters in the body packs help to a point, but are really only meant to keep you from going deaf when somebody hot patches or drops a microphone.
Of course, it’s just a matter of self control and you have a lot more ability to moderate your levels than you do with wedges.

Well it’s an acoustic band so the islaotion to hear the harmonies would be perfect and not worries about hearing crowd noise. I am probably going to get my ears molded and the IEM’s put in.

Saw that in one of the threads about tinnitus here several years ago. Definitely works temporarily but now that my hair is grown out it doesn't work as well because my hair is thick.

That’s what I did. Sensaphonics makes custom silicone molds that fit off-the-shelf Shure IEMs. You save a little bit of money compared to true custom ears, but I think the bigger advantage is you can try the Shures first without going all in on custom IEMs. Saves a few hundred dollars if you wind up hating them.

Antibiotics in 1996 caused my tinnitus. I used a Bose over the ear headphones at night and listened to classical guitar music to fall asleep. Hearing aids help during work. But you have to learn to adapt and live with it.

There are musicians with tinnitus that go on to have successful careers. I would imagine at first it is maddening, then eventually you cope with it and move on with your life. I have no doubt that is easier said than done

I’ve had it for over 20 years and, as previously stated, there is no cure. I have been to multiple ENTs, neurologists and audiologists.
You just have to manage it by not letting it consume you.
And, for sure, don’t fall for ads claiming they can cure you, either by therapy or medications. It’s all quackery.
I just let the bees in my head keep buzzing. If this is the worst I’ve got for a while, I consider myself lucky.
