I said multiple times I’m only in this thread because travel baseball parents tend to be the douchiest people at the park and deserve to be made fun of.
pretty sure you hold that title.

correct...spent the last couple pages trying to get him to understand this.

knob to the ball is not the same as rotate the box. nor is it the same as knob to the pitcher and replace front elbow. knob to the ball causes a hitter to become disconneted
Either approach is isolating the hands. The base, driving the knee, and hip rotation dictate more of the swing path than the hands do alone.
A peave of mine

rotating the box is the exact opposite of isolating the hands. complete opposite

we agree there

I posted this in the last travel ball thread but I'll post it again. As a parent what would you rather for your child a 4-5 year stint at a place like Louisiana College, or LSU-E that might include a stop at one of 100 JUCOs in Mississippi or a 3.5-4 year college experience at the honors program at LSU or a degree from Tulane?
I'd go with honors at Tulane. I'd only let her do honors at LSU if she could fight and was prepared to be a dorm warrior.

Meant top half more so than hands.

The idea is if you think you are swinging “level” you will naturally be on plane with the ball.
I addressed this. Your natural ability will get you on the plane (very slight upswing) with the ball. You don’t need to drop the barrel at the start to get on plane. That is slow as shite. Causes hands to drop, getting jams on a lot of stuff inside and spinning off and running out of bat on anything outside. Your contact areas is so small you are never going to hit consistently. The barrel needs to stay on plan in the zone a long time. The barrel dripping under the hands doesn’t allow this. Your only move to hit is to swing up and roll over. And I’m talking major barrel drops here. Like I said, if you think you are level your barrel will get on plan (very slightly under the ball).

Linear and rotational can both work as long as the front knee stiffens up at impact. Have to have something to push back against to get torque and that upper half rubber band action.

this isnt true btw. as a feel sure, but video shows the barrel does get below the hands
go look at any good hitter at contact. vertical bat angle should be in the 25 degree range optimally. but if the ball is low still have to tilt and VBA will be much greater.

linear hitting sucks, if you have to hit like that, need to spend more time in the weight room

At the start of the swing genius. I’m not talking about at contact.

there are some good ones out there but frick man there are a lot that just steal money.
same thing every time, no technology used
just come in...hit off the tee for 10 min, 10 min of front toss and then 10 min of overhand....no instruction whole time....that will be $50
not gonna lie i was a sucker for that for a while.

It’s no so much as being taught, it’s what kids think they are hearing. So they burn in a barell dump into their swing and it is a pain in the arse to break.
Trying to get their hands right, that knob gets above the pitchers head and you can’t do anything.

well we are in agreement there for sure.
like i said earlier...if we sat down and talked and watched video...bet we would agree on 98% of things
except ground balls...they still suck

Man hitting has changed a lot since I played in the 90's. Cell phone cameras have been a game changer for us. Now to play devil's advocate one thing that I noticed with younger kids when I was coaching was that some kids when trying to turn the barrel they would end up dragging the back elbow which we had to fix.

never ending fight until they get really strong
i will say a heavy bag and this
for 25-30 swings a day has been a life saver for this.
really really like flat bats and the rebels rack from baseball rebellion too. they have the bat drag buster that is good to for hitting front toss and tee work for breaking the elbow drag habit.

yep, big time. i like the bat sensor but cell phone and the onform app is a true game changer. used to use the coaches eye but app went away so use that now....complete game changer
i will say, any instructor that doesnt use a camera and is constantly trying to fix mechanical issues......run, run big time.

LSU777 you left off us LP boys earlier talking about Baton Rouge. District 5-5A is going to be a beast to win. DS, LO, and Walker should have some pretty good teams coming up.
