Long stretches were actually pretty beautiful, no trash on the sides of the roads, things cut and well-maintained.

There’s no better driving than on a rural 4 lane divided US highway. Louisiana has a great 4 lane US highway system thanks to the TIMED program.

US 61, 425, 165, 171, 167 north of Alex, 90 south of Lafayette, 190 between BR and Eunice.

They play hoops round year in those parts.

Class B and Class C juggernauts.

What's interesting to me is there are three small schools - Plainview, Elizabeth and Fairview - located close to each other. I hate seeing schools close for consolidation. I love seeing small schools keep going.

165 has notorious speed traps. Pretty drive broken up by sleepy towns with good gas station food

They got that little Shell in Bentley if you’re on 167.

I had one of the worst shits of my life in that little restroom after eating some bad Mexican food in Winnfield

Yep. I ate there several times and it was fine most of the time, just a bad batch that day I guess.

My rule of thumb is stay away from ethnic food in small towns

The deer hanging out on the side of the road between Winnfield and Dry Prong are no joke. Seems like they struck a deal with motorists many moons ago though. You stay in your lane and we'll stay in ours.

Back in the day, I got speeding tickets in Glenmora and Forest Hill. I think I escaped the grasp of Woodworth. Patrolman Chad Doyle pulled me over and harassed me one night in the Oakdale area. He gave my mom a speeding ticket. I don't like that.

I got one in Kinder, too.
