This one is easy. The people win, because the military will not kill their own families and people. The military will then turn on the government. Just look at the French revolution.

I assumed for this scenario that the military is readily fighting, otherwise the scenario doesn't work

If the civilian population of the US chose terror tactics, no army in the world would have a long term victory.

2 million military who have family and friends amongst those 60 million households, are sworn to defend the constitution and won't all be on board with seizing people's second amendment rights.

Civilians. Military is too reliant on contractors for logistics.

Assuming the military follows orders and all civilians with weapons revolt, the military would still ultimately win.

That being said, I couldn't pretend to imagine how shitty it would be to attempt to occupy the United States.

The point of the thread is flawed, as something like that would cause revolution, or civil war at the very least and from the top down in the military. You can bet your arse on that. So it wouldn't be 2 million robots doing the bidding of the government, but people with family, friends and deep convictions.

If the military (as a whole) obeyed orders to fire on American citizens, we'd be fricked.

That's just it, they won't. When they defect they start to take weapons.

I hear ya. I guess in the scenario that the military is readily fighting, it would be like Vietnam or the movie "red Dawn." They would never fully take over. There would always be pockets of resistance.

True, but those weapons don’t get off the ground without fuel. Their guns, artillery, and rocket launchers don’t fire without ammunition. Troops don’t march without food. The U. S. Military fighting against 350 million disorganized armed resistance? The supply chain would never be sustainable against geurilla tactics on that kind of scale. So many resources would be tied up protecting convoys that the military’s ability to project force and assert authority over territory would be greatly diminished. Essentially, they could hold a few cities with support from their leaders, but the country-side could never be pascified, and that’s where all the food is grown.

Citizens win 100/100 times.
