The tendency of most of this board, and most middle aged dudes is to go for the most padding and "squishy" feel possible. I'm one of the few that believes this causes more instability and stress on the ankles and knees due to the inherently unstable surface produced by squishy arse shoes.
Places like Luke's Locker were good places to go to find the right sole to deal with whatever pronation or supination you may have. If you get the wrong shoe, especially that squishy BS, it'll magnify whatever tendency is going to hurt your body.
