If it can ease traffic through the city then I'm all for the toll roads. Clearly, we are not getting a loop anytime soon.

St. George will have its own loop.

All it takes is $1 billion. Literally. That's what you're looking at to build a new river crossing and the approaches (minimum).

Got any ideas where that will come from?

Just think if we could have had the Bridge to Nowhere aka Audubon Bridge(St Fran to New Roads) built between the Wilkinson and Sunshine bridges.

The NIMBYs in BR have pushed the loop out to the surrounding parishes and now blame them for all their problems.

As always, the loop should be Nicholson/Burbank/Seigen/Florida Blvd/Government

Of course, the NIMBYs in BR don't want that route. Elevate or isolate that route and a huge problem is solved for BR.

Maybe this will discourage idiots that live in Baton Rouge from using the interstate for local travel instead of using surface streets like they should.

Not a bad idea. Put 4 lanes next to 30 with overpasses along the way and a few exits/onramps and charge $8-$12 from Bridge to I-10 @ 30, you'd have some tolltag-buying mother-truckers that's for sure.
Add the same thing to the north of the city center and we'd have ourselves a quasi-loop/bypass better than what we got situation.

Make it the westbank expressway. Build it that tall to keep the homeless from living under it.

The first they can do is close the E. Washington Exit on I-10 East.

the entire section of 10 & 110 in that area is just bizarre and dangerous

Years ago I read an article or 3 about elevating a road over airline/florida. Not sure what that's all about. I know Austin catches hell for that elevated shitstick portion of I-35 but I still can't imagine all elevated expressways being bad.

They put that bridge up in anticipation of traffic 10-30 years out...the same thing we're bitching about not happening in BR 10-30 years ago.

You have to elevate or isolate it. Airline north of Florida was built as a bypass, but it is a cluster now because of the businesses, red lights, and left hand turns/u-turners.

Exactly. That's what you get when you let politicians make decisions. Poor decision all the way.

I jump on I10 at Louise st every other morning. You literally have 4 seconds to merge, assuming no other cars are in the right lane, which is never. I can't tell you how many times I've seen people come to a complete stop on the on ramp trying to merge. Absolutely ridiculous. It's surprising there's not more wrecks there.

The Audubon bridge cost a fraction of what it will cost to build a bridge down here.

there is absolutely no reason this exit needs to exist. there is traffic at any given time of the day there because of how big a cluster frick that area is.

Once that ORCS fails and drains the Mississippi this will be a simple fix.

This needs to happen. The state system is good but BR really sucks at it. Choctaw is terrible. Luckily Greenwell Springs is alright.
