I didn't know there were any.

I don't think the shitholery of Louisiana is all that much color dependent either way, though.

Exactly
How many of those red states have democratic governors currently? This is why purple, which isn’t an option on that map, May be most accurate

You know that Louisiana is ummm... a red state, right?

Anyway, congrats. Let us know your plans to buy a vacation home in the city a few years from now.

Brother, my ancestors moved in to the Louisiana territory in the 1700s, with many of them settled in and around New Orleans in the 1800s, many of them doing incredibly very well and becoming multi millionaires and controlling the river fronts, building massive mansions downtown etc. That said, by the mid 1970s we had completely abandoned living in New Orleans for the exact same reasons you are dealing with now, and were not just the tip of the spear but part of a thundering herd

Lakeview.

Quite safe all around.

Zero murders, shootings, or carjackings.

I agree that a LOT of New Orleans is bad, but dont go off spouting ignorance like the poster who said ‘you are never more than 2 blocks from danger anywhere in New Orleans’.

Ok, but both of their governors are R. So again, Fits that Louisiana is functioning as a purple state. Or at least not like a red state. Which is the point the OP was making, hence the need to seek out a state that is functioning like a red state, like the 2 you mentioned

Didn’t get the job. I interviewed for my literal dream job in Denver, an absolutely perfect marriage of my skill set, values, passions, aptitude, etc, but I didn’t get it.
