re: Were you a bully or bullied growing up?

If anything I was the occasional victim of bullying because I actually cared about others and didn't want to be an a-hole to anyone even though I could have been...never appealed to me. Why be a damned dick?

You and OP are both d-bags. He is incredibly insecure and also acting out the decade old TD tough guy behind a keyboard. And you went with the newer traditional TD template of making yourself out to be the specific target of d-bag OP.
And to answer the question I was neither. I believe in the non-internet fantasy world we all need each other and everyone can use another friend. There are enough a-holes out there. OP shows us enough proof of that.

A little of both. I was kind of the second in command to one of the big bullies in elementary school, but I was a bit of his victim even though no one else crossed me. Think LeFou to Gaston in Beauty and the Beast.
Junior high and older though, I had a single bully and didn’t bully anyone else. The bully wasn’t my friend mentioned above, but he greatly reminded me of Draco Malloy. Small but a sharp tongue. Other than him I got along with everyone in high school. I’d sit at the popular table or the loser table depending on my mood (like say wanting to talk to the nerds about the Matrix or Lord of the Rings or wanting to secure a date).
But here’s the thing: kids are assholes. We all played “smear the queer” back in the day, but we can’t be held responsible for that.

I was both.
When I transferred to a Catholic school, in middle school, I got it pretty bad.
I was a new kid at a small catholic school in a town I wasn't from. The only black dude in my class (and one of three black kids at the school) was the only person I was cool with.
He had been going there since kindergarten and he would get the short end of the stick at times. When we were in 8th grade, the last week of school everyone was playing basketball and one of the kids dropped the N word on him and it was like he took out all his anger on him. He dropped the kid and the kid said it to him again and he lit him up. And I laughed while everyone else was in shock.
The fricked up thing about it was. The kid had been instigating him the whole time and the black kid got suspended for the rest of the year and the white kid, it was as if he didn't do anything.
For whatever reason, I think about that time more today than I ever have. In HS, when I was back with all of my friends, I was able to get away with a lot. There were times when I got into it with someone, they got into my face and someone jumped in for me. I would push the envelop a little bit because I knew I could, but my friends would keep me in check, but I hated every second of my middle school years.

I mean, when I moved from a Texas to Connecticut kids made fun of the way I talked but I didn’t get it so I didn’t care. I didn’t think I talked any different, couldn’t hear the “accent”.
When a kid put gum in my hair on the bus I punched him in the nose and people didn’t make fun of me much after hat

Ok, Mr. LOL at physical education class.
You've always been big boned haven't you? That's what people tell fat kids.
You are probably trolling because there is no way a grown man will still say this shite. But if you are serious, did you go to private school?

Dude stop trolling. It's not funny.. If you were more creative and came up with something else to troll then that's cool, but you are just being a dick hole.

bullied until about 6th grade which resulted from my shyness. 7th grade I discovered I was blessed with quick hands and a powerful uppercut which ended the bullying.
High School was more of pulling pranks on friends which resulted in others getting caught in the cross hairs.
Still feel terrible to this day about the time in high school I impersonated a friend and called some shy awkward looking girl from school and asked her to prom. She was so excited and immediately accepted. I never considered her feelings and was just playing a joke on a friend. His reaction was hilarious but still feel like an awful person

Neither as a child. I was bad arse and no one messed with me. Lol.
It’s bs today. Liberal school system touts a no bullying policy, but when they bullied kid fights back and punches a bully, the bullied kid gets suspended for “hitting” or “touching” another kid. The bully often walks away under the he said, he said scenario.

I was neither. I was the kid that stood up for the kid that got bullied. I can’t stand a bully.

Your story is eerily familiar. I had and still have a pretty bad stutter. I was bullied mercilessly in school. Played football, still got bullied. Got in fights, still got bullied. I got pantsed in front of the whole school during an assembly. I didn't hate guys like you, hate doesn't cover it enough. There isn't a word in human speech that embodies my feelings about guys like you. I'm 41 now. Good job, perfect wife, great sons. I don't hate them now, I haven't thought about it in years. Just remember that making someone feel isolated and the punchline of a joke can create a monster and that monster may come looking for you one day.

If your swing is as slow as you spitting out a sentence, I'll take my chances.
