State government, used to work for local government. Whatever thought comes to your mind after reading that, it’s probably accurate.
Mediocre people with minimal ambition. Very few under age of 30, very few are “fit”. Complacency is king. Change is frightening. Some of the office furniture has been in the exact same spot probably since before I was born. Most have worked there at least a decade, however despite that we seem to know very little about each other’s personal lives.
It’s wonderful.

About 60% of my office is 45+ and generally out of shape.
The rest of the office is around my age (early 30s) and in decent shape.
I mirror what one poster said about the women always being "on a diet" but eating garbage -- always snacking or sipping on sugary drinks...don't get me started on the $5 large smoothies at Smoothie King downstairs on Fridays. It's a "healthy lunch option" I'm told by Margaret who is around 5' tall and weighs 200+ pounds.
And someone always brings something for everyone to snack on, which is pretty innocent and a nice gesture I guess. But one lady who is pretty portly makes it a point to go around the office and remind people that Cindy brought brownies. frick off Susan -- I don't want them and I don't need you screaming up and down the office every hour on the hour that Cindy brought brownies. Stop trying to aggressively spread type two diabetes to the world.
And stop giving me side eye like I personally shite on your desk when I say no thank you to a brownie at 10am, just like I did at 9am when you asked me the first time.
