Going to the events is a hobby. It's an experience between that and following a team through recruiting or sports radio I'd say being a fan of something could be a hobby.
Is going to church a hobby?

I go to a lot of sporting events, mostly having to fly to them since my teams are not Colorado based teams. I just kind of wrapped that up under travel though.

I'd say church could be a hobby as well. A good friend of mine is super active in their church outside of just the service on Sundays there's different bible studies, groups, and activities associated. Really anything you devote a lot of your free time to voluntarily could be a hobby.
What's interesting to me is other friends I have that do nothing. I know my hobbies are just something I dump a bunch of money into that entertain me for a while but I couldn't imagine waking up on a Sat or Sun and not going to play a round of golf or hit the lake. What does someone with no hobbies do?

How frequently does one need to do something in order for it to be considered a hobby and not an interest?
Ie id be hard pressed to call skiing a hobby if you go skiing once a year

i love college football but dont consider watching a sport a hobby for some reason
Because it's not.
1. Surfing (everyday if I can, or at least 3x a week)
2. Soccer (play 2-3 x a week.
Those are my main ones.
I don't consider lifting/working out a "hobby" of mine, just something I like to reap the benefits from.

You need to go at least 250 days a season.

Then you could add drinking, smoking and gambling to that list as well

Even people that list Golf as their #1 hobby don't feel it's a sport. They have to add sports on the list

If LSU Athletics counts as a hobby, definitely #1. If not:
1. Grilling / Smoking
2. Hiking / camping
3. Fishing / hunting (not nearly enough)
4. Video games (too much)
5. Carpentry / furniture making (although I am terrible at it so far)
