I've gotta have my dollar store plastic sand pail and shovel. I keep thinking I'm gonna outgrow that but I'm over 60, so probably not.
If it's available, just rent one or two of those umbrella and two chairs combos.

The gulf even when somewhat calm is merciless
Real tip though: add another dozen anchors if you want to make it happen with a rig that size

The beach is just a staging area.

Beer to gear ratio needs some work

I like packing the beach wagon. It fits four beach chairs, two umbrellas, a monster boom box, beach toys, snacks, sunscreen, beach bag with towels and stuff and and one of those soft ice chest that can fit about 18 beers.

You are going to need a really calm day to enjoy that thing. I would be grumpy as hell after hauling that down to the beach.

It’s not. Wagon makes it super easy.

Well we’ve got 4-5 grown men and boys and a beach wagon. Plus the women and kids can haul stuff. It’s a group thing.
It’s got a built in ice chest. Canopy. Hoping for calmish seas next week.
And if it doesn’t work can always use it on the lake or river.

You’re a father, this vacation is not for you, do your job.

Go for it.
Inflatables give me anxiety. Not because they are unsafe. Because I’ve bought and thrown away enough of those things I could have used that money to retire 5 years earlier.

Haha. This is the correct answer.

I thought you lived in Alaska? Am I experiencing dissonance?

Looks like 2 foot seas Saturday with winds 5-10 knots. Shouldn’t be too bad, anchored right past where the waves break

The chair rental people pack up at 5:00-6:00PM, my beach day starts around 2:00, and ends st sunset.
