they would not get caught

It appears they miscalculated this part.

Maybe they wouldn't have been caught if they didnt make blatant huge wagers, if there's any accuracy in that other post claiming they were dropping 100 grand on these small school games
Ties the record set by Marvin Lewis
They play the way everyone wishes their own team played. It's impressive to watch every time

SMU and Louisville aren't that bad of teams. Sure you would think a potential national champion would win these games but is it any worse than 2016 Clemson losing to an 8-5 Pitt team, or 2014 Ohio St losing to 7-6 VT, or 2024 Ohio St losing to 8-5 Michigan?

It's not like they lost to some dogshit 3-9 teams or anything. And both those games came down to the final plays
I feel like I'm in the upside down with Cristobal in the title game
Beck has only thrown 1 interception so far. He always seems to throw multiple if he's thrown 1, so let's see if he lives up that here with the game on the line like against Louisville
I think you need to go rewatch the Favre play. Favre never even looks down field to throw and intentionally runs backwards in Strahan's direction. He even reportedly audibled into the call to send his protection in the other direction and then ran right at Strahan. And then got up and went celebrate with him and started high fiving the giants players too like he was on their team or something.
By 1998 Snyder had been there almost a decade and had gradually built them up already. Just checked to find the exact numbers but he was hired in 1989:

1989: 1-10
1990: 5-6
1991: 7-4
1992: 5-6
1993: 9-2-1
1994: 9-3
1995: 10-2
1996: 9-3
1997: 11-1

By 1998 people had gotten used to the idea that KSU was a good team and Snyder was a good coach that had built them up. Cignetti went 11-1 and made the playoffs his first year. Obviously the transfer portal didnt exist back then so you can argue it's easier to make a quick turnaround these days than it was back then. Still, I don't think anyone expected a bunch of James Madison transfers to go to Indiana and become title contenders. There isn't really a comparison to what we've seen these past couple of years.

Not sure if you're trying to agree or disagree with what I posted. 2 things are true, what you posted(I also posted) and the fact that half(minimum) J wearers today do not wear them due to anything to do with Jordan other than the name on the shoe. Just a shoe/apparel company. The human is irrelevant to them. Again making what Paul said true. He said half didnt wear Jordan's to be like Mike. Thats true. They wore them because the popular guy in the neighborhood did. Now people wear them due to status pure and simple. Jordan's aren't even attractive footwear. Damn sure not with a suit like those idiots on TV wear.

I think the poster you're replying to has the vibe of thinking that the people who buy Jordans buy it because of MJ's basketball skills. That may have been the case when it started. But it's not the case now. I mean I guess you can say in a roundabout way that if he wasn't good at ball he would never have been able to start this brand and therefore kids these days wouldn't be buying his shoes, but kids these days aren't buying Jordans because of his ball skills, it's just a huge shoe brand now that everyone wants and always wanted since they've been alive.

Louis Vuitton DIED in 1892. MFers are still buying his name brand today and it's still considered a status statement/symbol. No one buying "his" shite these days actually knows who the frick he actually is or was. I agree with you. Jordans are fashion statement now. Young teens today were born well after even his Wizards stint. They never saw him play ball or witnessed his rise from UNC to early riser to the 6 rings. They heard it from their dad and see how sought agter the shoes are, so they want it too.

I will say it leads me to this point someone else posted in this thread

What this tells me is Lebron's "team" is worried because his career is almost over and they're worried his shoes might not sell as well. Meanwhile Jordans have been selling great even long after he retired.

I feel like this is very correct. Lebron is about to be done with basketball. Lebron doesn't have the merchandise brand Jordan did when he left. Are kids gonna be buying Lebron anything 30 years after he retires with the fervor they still do for MJ? Only time will tell but his representation team is going to try their hardest to make it so. Kinda their job so hard to be mad at them :dunno:

and the shameful NCAA is doing NOTHING but sitting by and watching it all go to hell in a handbasket

I mean what do you want them to do? They've lost every court case related to these issues. They have no power to do anything about it, and it's not like they haven't tried.

My prediction is Ole Miss over Miami. I just don't believe in Mario, and Bad Beck will show up at some point. I think it'll be next round. Even if Good Beck shows up, people sleep on Ole Miss. That's a good team, and Chambliss has championship pedigree. Yeah it was D2 but the dude is a gamer, the dude just wins man. At the end of the day I think he'll get it done for at least one more round.

Indiana though, they have been the only true force this year. And they've had nut up times against Penn St and Iowa and Ohio St and they rose to the challenge every time. They've also shown they can blow good teams out. That Illinois win was just war crimes. Cig is also a winner and he's won everywhere he's been. Last year took everyone by surprise but this year he showed he ain't joking and isn't some one hit wonder. I was already surprised when they went to Eugene, threw a pick six, and still won by double digits on the road. And then against Ohio St they had both of those red zone stands, and pulled the damn thing off when I thought OSU would surely win in the end. I was like holy shite. This team is actually legit. They are tough and they show no mercy. I honestly believe the Hoosiers will be your national champions this year.

I had the A&M choke factor built into my expectations as well, I just thought Kyle Field and Mario/Beck shenanigans would get A&M the win and then they'd go on to lose to Ohio St next round. Make no mistake Miami being in the F4 is the most surprising to me. And their line play in the postseason has been very impressive.

No idea what to expect from Miami/Ole Miss. If Beck plays a clean game they can win. But Beck never just turns it over once. If he turns it over, he turns it over 2-4 times. If that Beck shows up, Ole Miss will blow them out because Ole Miss can run it up. If Beck plays clean then it'll be close.

I honestly think Indiana might blow Oregon out. And I think Indiana wins the chip. They're firing on all cylinders and their coach and roster is laser focused. I don't see anyone outplaying them for 4 quarters

Indiana is only surprising for logo watchers. If the same exact seasons happened for each team but you swapped the IU and script A logo on the helmets then people would think it's business as usual. Bama couldn't run the ball all year. They were never going to make a deep run as soft as they have been this year. They honestly limped into the playoffs and they had some 2nd and 3rd quarter magic against Oklahoma that got them the win, but IU is legitimately a complete team on both offense and defense, that shite was never going to fly against them. I didn't think it would be as bad as it ended up being but no shock that Bama lost to me.

Ole Miss played UGA down to the wire already this year in Athens. Yeah Kiffin is gone but both those players and the rest of the staff are pretty much all intact. They weren't going to fall into some deep pit and stop playing good football all of a sudden despite what weirdos think. I did think UGA would win in the end, but it isn't some shocking result to me.

Miami, led by Cristobal who usually chokes in these spots, beating Ohio State and their best roster money can buy and the defending natty champs is the most surprising outcome to me. I'm really surprised Miami got this far, I had them losing to A&M first round but they proved me wrong. I'm just not a believer in Mario. And Beck often turns into a turnover machine in big games and I've just been waiting for that to happen. It still probably will next round but I can't deny they got way further than I ever thought they would. This is the real shocker for me.
Indiana would be the better story and the better coaching job. Probably would stand out more just because of their history, name brand wise it qould be a bigger shock than even 1984 BYU.

Better team? Who would win H2H? I realize I'm an LSU fan here but that team had firepower I honestly just don't think anyone team would stop. That Auburn game people like to bring people up so much was a product of a bad field, a bad day, shite like our own reciver deflecting an easy TD pass to the open receiver behind him. Just one of those weird days. And even despite that, it was a 2 score deficit most of the way, Auburn kicked a FG at the very end to get it within 7 and then LSU just bled the clock instead of scoring again and just ended the game. I honestly thought the Florida and Bama games that year were much more in jeopardy later in the game than Auburn was, i dont remember being that stressed in the Auburn game. :dunno:

Who is better that is coaching right now?

I'm not calling his job status into question. Smart's an all time great and probably still holds the #1 spot right now. Even the greats have slip ups though. I'm just saying it was by any metric a dumb decision and maybe the moment got to him. I mean can you dispute it was dumb to do that given the circumstances?

I think if Cignetti wins it all this year it would be hard to argue against him though. And considering the caliber of program each took over, Cig has an argument over him even if he doesn't win it all. Maybe you don't agree with it, he doesn't have the hardware yet but the argument exists. They don't have the same tools to operate with.

You have a FG all but guaranteed. You run a play there that gives you the best chance of scoring. Plain and simple.

The clock is a factor bro. OM had no timeouts. You are allowed to score a TD by running the ball even from the 6. If you fail to score a TD by running or by throwing, the choice is do you give OM an entire minute to get into FG range or like 10 seconds?

Or even if you run it, you can advance the ball and maybe you get stopped at like the 1 or 2. You could even at that point choose to go for it on 4th down and take a real gamble to end the game there and now with only a few seconds left. Or you could take the FG either way

The point is, by running the ball you take the lead, or run the clock down so we're going to OT or going for it on 4th if it's close enough. With the pass call they made they're either taking the lead or leaving OM with a whole minute where they only need to get in FG range to win.

The best way I can explain it is best and worst case scenarios. The best case scenario of either playcall is the same - score a TD and take the lead. The worst case of either playcall drastically differs - either you take the FG and leave OM with a minute of time to win in regulation, or you run the clock down and kick a FG/go for the win on 4th with little time left.

Sorry man, it's pretty objective what needed to happen on that 3rd down playcall. If Ole Miss had timeouts left, or there was more time remaining in the game, then we can have a different conversation and what you're saying would be more valid. But in that particular situation, it was straight stupidity, and there really isn't much arguing otherwise.

Ole Miss fans becoming believers in Golding is fantastic

They even said Golding isn't going to hire a DC, he's going to be his own DC

OK yeah, when this postseason ends and the offensive staff comes to LSU as well as some of the players and all you're left with is Golding and his program building, good luck bro  Genuinely enjoy this while it's still going. I mean it.
Enjoy the embers while you can. I can't wait for this show to come to BR :dude:
Final four is Indiana/Oregon and Miami/Ole Miss

Miami has some status from the 80s-early 00s, but other than that someone new is winning the title this year
