Both - and he knows good food.
I have been fortunate to eat in about 15 different places he has been across the US, and every one of them was legit

He's the man that helped Carnival feed many day drinking cruisers some good burgers!

Seriously, the guy has one of the biggest hearts in the industry. He takes being the butt of jokes in stride.
I think people pick on him, but nobody really dislikes him. The guy seems like one of the few genuine people to make it big.
Also to OP, he started as a Chef.

He just hit it big winning that show he was on - it got him out of the restaurant business and with a TV career
He hates corporate restaurant business
He has done a lot to support the little guys

should also point out that when all of the stuff was coming out in the restaurant industry about all of the sexual harassment, he was never implicated in any of it

Bourdain exposed much of that in Kitchen Confidential along with the rampant drug use.

Travels the country giving small businesses free advertising. The mans a damn American hero.
When going to a new city, I always use a TV maps site to figure out where he, Andrew Zimmern, and Anthony Bourdain have filmed. While some will be top search results for that area, they always highlight hidden gems you wouldn’t really hear about otherwise.

previously chef, now mostly tv talent. savy business man. If you ever listen to him in interviews he fully acknowledges that the guy on tv is him, just turned up to max level.

Not sure, but his career really took off after he left Rascal Flatts

Like far too many on TV Food Shows today, just another POSER.

Fieri began his association with food in grade school in Ferndale, by selling pretzels from his "Awesome Pretzel" cart and washing dishes to finance his trip to France to study.[14] On his return to the United States, he worked at the restaurant at the Red Lion Inn in Eureka, California, until he went to Las Vegas for college.[14] Fieri attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Hotel Management in 1990.[15][16] Soon after graduation, he went to work for Stouffer's, as manager of a Long Beach, California, restaurant called Parker's Lighthouse.[12] After three years in southern California, he became district manager of Louise's Trattoria, managing six locations along with recruiting and training for the restaurants.
such a POSER

Yep.... confirmed poser. Not a chef. Selling pretzels, staging, working a line, or managing a restaurant does not constitute you as a chef or (chief) of the kitchen.

I’ll never admit it to my wife, but I really do like watching Triple D.
Why would you have to lie to your wife about DDD?
I'd expect that answer for something like real housewives, not a cooking show

quote:obviously not. it just lends some extra credibility to him being a decent guy considering how wide spread the toxic environment was in the industry
So this is something for us to celebrate?
